Great hotel in great area with a few minor flaws

This is a very nice hotel, with large, well-appointed rooms and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. It is in the fun Palermo Viejo area, which I recommend especially for people who are already familiar with the more traditional neighborhoods near downtown. You will enjoy your stay here. My only quibble with this hotel is that the service (for the price) could be improved: the maid service awoke us once (relatively) early in the morning when we were sleeping in, and another time they were in the middle of cleaning the place when we came back from breakfast downstairs. In an 11-room hotel without Do Not Disturb signs, you’d hope they’d keep track of whether guests have left. Also, a few minor requests I made (such as fixing the DVD player, which was incorrectly connected to the TV when we arrived) were apparently forgotten or at least not attended to promptly (we ended up fixing the DVD connection ourselves). Also, I *believe* you could stay in an equivalent-sized room at a luxurious 4-star hotel near the city center (e.g. Retiro) for significantly less. I guess it depends on whether you are willing to pay more to stay in a boutique hotel in a trendy neighborhood. If it is your first time in Buenos Aires, being near the center is more convenient to get to the main tourist attractions; on the other hand, Palermo Viejo has a lot of interesting restaurants, nightlife, and shopping, and only a short, cheap taxi ride away from downtown.
