This is an excellent hotel in every respect--it’s clean, the service is complete yet unobtrusive.

Swissotel is the best choice for first time travelers to amsterdam. It is in a perfect location and maintained very well. Friendly staff and comfortable beds were also a plus. I also really liked that the window opened to have a nice breeze. Within walking distance to everything. I will definately be returning.

location, location, location

Easy acess from the station, nice and warm welcome at the desk. Clean Hotel, below general Swissotel standarts but certainly stayable with great expedia rate.

Great Spot

Hotel was very nice. Construction right next door was a challenge in terms of 8AM jack hammers, but the staff worked to get us moved and keep us comfortable. Great service!

Excellent Amsterdam Hotel

My Husband and I both agree that we enjoyed our stay at the Swissotel Amsterdam. It is very convenient to be in the center of town close to everything. Walking distance to Centraal Station and the GVB ticket office. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is very conveniently located to every attraction via walking or taking the Tram. The restaurant downstairs is delicious and will conveniently charge your meal to your room if need be. The rooms are spacious and very clean. If you ever go to Amsterdam, don’t hesitate to stay at the Swissotel.

Amsterdam’s Best Choice Hotel

We went to Amsterdam for a long Weekend. Being frequent travelers, we expected traffic jams, complex transport from Airport. NOT AT ALL. This was the easiest and most convenient trip we ever made. The SWISSHotel is so well situated. It can be reached within a 20 min Train ride directly from Schipol Airport to Central Station. A 10 min walk through an animated tourist street with restaurants, bars and nice shops. The Hotel is in an excellent location, in the middle of a very secure city centre environment, with tram stops, Shopping Mall in front (De Bijenkorf Department Store), Madame Tussaud s Museum and numerous streets, packed with shops, bars, restaurants, gifts etc. Red light district, within walking distance (5 min), worthwhile to be seen. The Hotel is perfectly clean, with excellent service. The rooms are generous in size. When I reserved online, I made a mistake in the choice of the room, but could upgrade very easily to a suite when we arrived. The beds (very large king size) are heavenly comfortable. There is a large canapé in front of the bed from where one can watch TV (only negative point of the hotel: the size of the flat screen TV). Safe is free of charge. Nice large bathroom with glass doors. Room very quite despite busy location. It was my fiancée s birthday. So we got a free bottle of wine, served with a wonderful smile. We highly recommend this Hotel. Will come back.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Next to the Hotel, there are numerous dining possibilities. Restaurant just next to the Hotel serves excellent food at very reasonable prices (recommended by Guide Michelin).If inclined for quick restauration, there are many excellent "Take away s". Famous chicken take away not far. I am usually quite precautious but there are excellent WOK "To go" restaurants. Further up the street a "Hooter’s" type of bar. Girls are dancing on stage right in front of the street, Awesome.

Great hotel in Amsterdam

This hotel is in a great location for exploring Amsterdam. Easy walk to museums and the red light district and next to Dam square. I would highly recommend this hotel if staying in Amsterdam

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If taking the Connexxion Hotel Shuttle with return to your hotel buy your ticket at the office not on the shuttle. The drivers do not seem to carry return tickets so you will end up paying full price on too and from the airport.

Close to all action

This hotel had an excellent location right in the middle of what I would call their heart of the city. There was alot of people offering drugs outside and it was a little too much in the action. The room was nice. Be sure you find out if the breakfast is included in your stay. We were told where breakfast was to be served so we thought it was included..BIG SHOCK! 20 Euros per person for cereal and pastries!!!

Lucky if you get a room with window

My husband and I loved the room with windows; very limited # of rooms with full view of the Dam Sq; hotel may not have been fully booked. Staff spoke perfect English and was very attentative. Loved the Nespresso in room; free great coffee. Only problem was pillows smelled, and they needed freshen up.

Great Hotel, but...

I loved the hotel for its great location and outstanding staff. My only complaint is the lower rate rooms have very stiff and uncomfortable mattresses and the pillows were like a piece of 3" foam rubber. Last time I upgraded to a suite and each of those were upgraded. Next time, and there will be a next time, I’m getting a suite! Great hotel otherwise!!

The hotel is well kept with good facilities (business center and a gym). The staff was also helpful when giving recommendations for things to do. The location is excellent.

For lunches don’t go with fast food. Instead check out local cafes. I was always satisfied.

Great Location & Hotel

The Swissotel was a great place to stay in Amsterdam. It was located within walking distance to the train station (even with luggage) and provided luggage storage since we arrived at 8am until our room was ready. The overall location of Swissotel is in Dam Square, a great central location where we were able to walk to all the major sites, we never even used the great tram system. The room we stayed in was a perfect size for 2 people, even with the king size bed. The staff was very helpful with questions such as where to eat dinner, and always friendly. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Swissotel!

Great location, average hotel

I would stay again at this hotel only for the excellent location - close to shopping, tourist area, red light district, etc.

The restaurant immediately to the left when facing the hotel is very good for eating meals and dessert. It also has "extra cold" beer on tap if you miss the states!

Great Pick!

This hotel was amazing!! Its right in the middle of everything, you can walk anywhere from here. The rooms are all nice and updated, huge king size bed. Great price, even the breakfast was good for it being a continental breakfast.

This is a good place to bring a familly because it has a no Smoking of any kind policy which is written all over the hotel and enforced.

Great Hotel & Good Deal

My husband & I stayed a week here for our honeymoon & everything was great. The price was reasonable especially w our expedia deal. We didn’t include the breakfast but its so centrally located there’s tons of options. We arrived about 6am the first day but it wasn’t a problem the hotel held our luggage & had our room ready by 11am even though check in wasn’t until 2pm. Its easily accessible by foot & train, clean w air conditioning & very quite. Its not real fancy but we’d stay here again & recommend it to anyone.

Well Worth Every Penny!

The Swisshotel Amsterdam is directly on Dam Square. It is secure and the staff are very attentive. For our last evening in town we decided to ask the concierge for a recommendation for a restaurant and live music and she arranged for us what turned out to be our best evening of the trip. We used their nice gym several times, which did wonders for alleviating jet-lag. I liked the modern decor of the rooms.

Ask for a room facing the back. The front, street-side can be a bit noisy.

4 night stay-- Excellent

Stayed in a ’premium or business room’ My only complaint had to be the size of the TV. It was actually hard to see from the bed. That said, the bed was very comfy, room spacious and air con worked well. The hotel service at the front desk was excellent, very friendly, helpful and efficent. The elevators are the fasted in the world! Location perfect. We walked with our wheely suitcases from the train station. by the way, very easy to take train into town from the Schipol airport. Might even be faster than a taxi and very inexpensive. The hotel housekeeping had to be the only weak part. They didn’t change our sheets once and didn’t service our room on the 3rd day. Someone had put the do not disturb sign on our door and later when I discovered this I called front desk and they brought us fresh towels and took our rubbish. Internet free and three good although somewhat slow computers but a bonus is a printer. Good workout facility. Overall, would not hesitate to recommend. Very nice stay!

To save money, there was a little blue and white food store nearby the hotel, just a few doors down from the hotel toward the train station. They had fresh baked bread, wine, cheese, fruit and fantastic pre packed salads. We lived out of this store! Don’t forget the fab department store just across the street.

Wonderful location in center of Amsterdam.

The Swissotel is in the center of Amsterdam, next to Dam Square, a 10 minute walk to the train station, a 15 minute walk to the floating flower market, close to great shopping, restaurants, museums. The front desk was very pleasant and accomodating,the room was clean and comfortable.They left mints on your pillow every night. There was a coffe/espresso maker in the room, along w/cups and saucers. The only complaint we had was that the room need more ligting. The location is perfect. you are at the center of everything, yet we had no noise at night. I higly recommend this hotel and can’t wait to return!

There is a new Purse Museum off Rembrandtplein. They have a fabulous collection of purses and accessories, tracing the history of the pocketbook. They also have a lovely afternoon tea and you can make reservations at the entrance.

Centrally located across from Damrak, but still quiet. Room was spacious and clean and staff was friendly. I would recommend this hotel.

Excellent location but terrible staff

Excellent location. Right near Dam square, yet you can’t hear the noise in the rooms. Minutes away from the Central train station and loads of restaurants around. Rooms were quite spacious by European standards and were well maintained. The only downside was the hotel staff. They lacked basic courtesy and did not even greet the guests. I had requested for an early check in and even after the earlier guests had checked out, they made no efforts to expedite getting my room ready although I was waiting for 5 hours !!

It is the place to stay!

your in the middle of everything - the employees are amazing - but the food...you better be REALLY hungry...but they were better than last time - so there’s hope :) house wine is great - from south Africa.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

stay @ this hotel - your in the mecca of amsterdam - you can do it all. buy your tram tickets @ the local A&g when u walk out its to the left next to KFC :) its way cheaper - dont get those 40 euro passes - waste.
