very impressed!
went for halloween wkend, and the staff had a pumpkin carving contest. a gingerbread house contest is planned for christmas. it was a wonderful visit. would like to go back to see the christmas contest.

Relaxing Beachfront
Overall the BW Beach Resort was a pleasant hotel with exquisite beachfront rooms and views to match. Downtown Monterey is a mere 10 minute easy drive. The room is small (probably a tradeoff for the beautiful ocean view) but clean. A nice feature was the combo privacy shade so we could see the ocean during the day and full blackout shade. There was also a small vent under the window so we could let the breeze and scent of the ocean into the room. The bathroom was tiny and had only a widely-slatted door, but the shower was comfortable and the water was warm. Beds were very comfortable, pillows were so-so, but because we visited in Autumn there were more than sufficient blankets. A huge TV with HD was mounted on the wall and came with more than the usual lineup of channels. Although there were no dressers, there was an armoire and a luggage stand, and for our short two day stay this was sufficient. Front desk and cleaning staff were always courteous and helpful. (Front desk staff can be useful in helping find local, non-touristy restaurants). The clerk at the restaurant was surly and and we left without eating breakfast. Given that the draw of the room was the ocean view, it would have been nice to have chairs outside the room so during the day we could have enjoyed a snack al fresco. In the end the trade off of room size was fair considering the sensory experience of being so close to the ocean.
