Wont stay again

The hotel no longer offers the free breakfast. Our toilet pluged up. The TV signal kept going out. The carpet was dirty.

Loved it!

The room was nice and clean, staff was very nice, the pool was clean, great location.

Moderately priced but mediocre quality

Contrary to what is stated in the hotel description, free wireless internet is only available in the hotel lobby ! If you want to use wireless internet in your room, you have to pay ! Only 16 TV channels were on the room TV. There were cockroaches in my bathroom !

too expensive for something which looks like a motel!

Not bad for the price

When we got there we were informed that our reservation was given a free upgrade from the original room. Our room had a view of the garden area and pool. Wish it was a queen bed instead of the 2 double beds but the room was always clean and the view was nice. Only small issues was that the wifi was not free and the continental breakfast was slim on choices. But if you are on vacation and just need a place to rest and not planning to spend a lot of time at the hotel, it was more than adequate.

would stay again

I liked the hotel overall. The only things I found wrong was that the pool surface needed to be skimmed for bugs and the room smelled musty, but after the air conditioning had been on a little while, the musty smell went away. Quiet as far as sleeping. Would recommend. Decent hotel for the money....

For the money spent, it was decent. Near the beach and plenty of places to choose from as far as restaurants....

Needs more renovation

The room my husband and I shared was a little shabby, but adequate. The bathroom appeared to have been retiled recently, but the main room needs refurbishing. The breakfast room and the grounds, including pool, are quite lovely; and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We would stay there again.

Nice motel, the pillows and the mattress were a bit hard. But it was good for my purpose

The staff treated me like royalty, the place, room, grounds, pool the entire property was spotless, it felt like a 3 star hotel for the price of a 1 star hotel. I travel to sarasota many times a year and will always stay here.

Make sure you take time to enjoy the pool and garden area if for nothing else just time to relax as it is a wonderful peaceful setting.

Golden Host Resort is located on 41 which is the main street in Sarasota. It is extremely close to the beach and area attractions.

We’d go back in a heartbeat

It was quiet, lovely, convenient to beaches and Sarasota attractions. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had access to the pool and lovely tropical garden areas via a glass sliding door from our room. My young teens adored this place. It had charm and personality--unlike many of the beachfront highrises. I would most certainly go back!

Bring extra beach towels. Mote Aquarium was very enjoyable.

Bad start, better finish

The staff at this hotel were extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. My first room was not fit to take a shower in however. The bathroom was gross (mold, needed repairs, etc). The next day they put me in a different room that was 100% better. If I could be assured of the second room I would go back.

This hotel works of you do not need to stay in this area of Sarasota except to sleep. It is conviently located to everything, but not a great part of town to make a vacation in.

I was very disappointed in this hotel. it did not have a fridge or microwave.

Not Impressed

We were not very satisfied with the cleanliness of the hotel. Saw a baby bug (roach)on the sink on our last day! Painters were painting around our balcony door which we thought was very rude, especially when they posted a "wet paint" sign on the glass door as we are inside the room! Not happy at all.

Would never stay here again

I stayed at this motel at the end of January. The photos presented on the web were not representative of the motel. They removed the pictures the same day that I brought their attention to the situation. The room was dirty. The shower curtain was dirty as well as was the sink. My sheets were torn and the fire alarm was falling off the wall. The bed was very uncomfortable. I called before booking and was told something different than what I got when I arrived at the hotel. I explained the situation but attitude was all that I got. Also, there is no one at the front desk who can help. I called for a wake up call and was told to set my alarm. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel booked on expedia. Also, I was told they were part of a chain and their room fixtures support the chain but was told by the manager that they were not.

OK for the Money

Conveniently located, competitively priced, an older building but well maintained, comfortable yet not luxurious. The continental breakfast was spartan, should be enhanced to leave a better impression with the traveler. Nicely maintained, interesting tropical grounds. Clean pool. Staff pleasant and helpful.
