Excellent location
We picked the Grande Colonial due to its location, which is great for walking everywhere in La Jolla. The room was small but luxurious. The staff did not tell us anything about the hotel, i.e.coffee in the lobby, pool use or close proximity to a fitness center. My one compliant is that our room was the first one off the lobby and housekeeping staff started vaccuming at 7:15 am on a Sat and Sun morning. I went to reception as asked them to stop and they did. That seems a little strange given it was July 4th weekend. The restaurant 910 has a small cozy bar with good drinks and bar food.
Traveler's tip on dining
Be sure to eat at Georges on the Cove and one of the "Jacks" restaurants (there are three in one building).

A Lovely Stay and a Great Value
We really enjoyed our stay at the Grande Colonial. It is a lovely hotel located right on Prospect Street, with great shopping and restaurants all around us. It is just a short walk around the corner to the shoreline. The bathrooms are very small, as previously stated, but very clean. The rooms are very comfortable and nicely appointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered up breakfast every day, and it was always hot and delicious. Lunch at the Nine-Ten was great too.
Traveler's tip on dining
Viggaluchis up the street is fantastic! It is located on the 2nd floor with an amazing terrace for outdoor dining. Our 18 year old daughter declared the food "ridiculously good." We made reservations for the next night before we even got to dessert!
