We loved it
Fantastic hotel. We loved everything about it. We found the staff very professional and polite. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of quality food. We had a room overlooking the beautiful garden and fountain. We loved the paintings and objects d’art displayed on every floor. We hope we can return someday.

Excellent place
It is very nice hotel with high quality services. It is excellent place for the rest: there are big beautiful garden, two outdoor swimming pools and very comfortable cafe near the swimming pools; place for plaing tennis and for sure beautiful view on the lake in this hotel.

Stresa vacation
Outstanding hotel. We have travelled extensively and this hotel is one of the best we have stayed in. The hotel room, hallways and common areas are decorated in exquiste classic italianate detail.
Traveler's tip
Take the train from Milan Centrale train station to Stresa for 20 Euro round trip/person, in about 1 hour.

Grand Hotel on Lago Maggiore
Upon arrival we were upgraded to a lake front room, the veiw was magnificent. And it just kept on getting better from there until the end of our stay. Great hotel and great staff. We were treated like royalty.

Former Palace/Art Museum
Overall fine. Service and location wonderful. Near shopping/restaurants. Marble bathrooms. Expensive. Bed extra firm. Air conditioner somewhat weak. Request 4th floor or higher lake view room. Quiet. Other nice first class hotels in vicinity.

You should go once in your life
It is wonderful to experiance an old, traditional ornate hotel like this. It reeks of class and elegance. The setting is marvelous and it’s position on Lago Maggiore can’t be beat. We were at the Grand on a family vacation and were uncomfortable in our vacation clothes. Everyone around us was in suits and dresses and they whisper. They even whisper at the swimming pool So we were a bit of fish out of water. Don’t miss the excellent breakfast buffet, which was wonderful, although another whispering experience. We wouldn’t go again but we are very happy we went once. That may be more a statement about us than about the hotel.
Explore the property and have breakfast, but stay somewhere where the kids can yell and wear their shorts.
