This is a Gem!
The hotel was selected because it provided a sense of history. It is a lavish Edwardian hotel with modern amenities. The staff is extremely helpful. We had an overchrge which I did not catch when we checked out (6:00 AM is not my best time), and an e-mail to the hotel received prompt attention and a refund immediately. The location is perfect - one and one-half blocks to the British Museum and walking distance to Covent Garden. We enjoyed every aspect of the visit. I would stay there again and would recommend it highly.
We selected October as we were returning from Europe and decided to spend additional days in London. The weather was delightful, only a dash of rain for one day and very comfortable. Tourist crowdes have thinned out by then. We enjoyed two theatrical productions and our seatmates were all native English people out for an evening. We had a gerat time!

Nice older hotel in excellent location
Older hotel, but well kept. Good location close to British Museum, around corner from Russell Square underground station. Not inexpensive.

Always wanted to stay
Ive passed this hotel for years and always wanted to stay in it. It is quite grand, inside as well as out, and generally lived up to my expectations. Location is super with a tube station around the corner and within walking distance of Euston. St. Pancras and Kings Cross stations, the British Museum, and much of the University of London. Breakfast was extra and a bit pricey but could easily serve as one meal in a two meal day.
