Great historic inn
The John Rutledge Inn was just what we hoped to find. Its in a perfect location in the historic district and it has a history of its own, being the former home of one of the signers of the Constitution. It has lots of attractions - museum houses, restaurants, the market, the harbor - within walking distance. And the innkeeper and staff couldnt have been nicer. The breakfast was excellent, especially the fancy French toast.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
See the house museums in Charleston. The Aiken-Rhett is being preserved and has been left as found. The Calhoun Mansion is an unbelievable (and I mean it), restored Victorian. The Nathaniel Russell and Edmondston-Alston were also very good. We walked to them all, although the Aiken-Rhett is a hike from the JRI.

Carriage Room Was Great - Breakfast in the Garden; Super!
Only negative - was the check-in; no internet access code was given and we had to call up for it later that night. Otherwise we had a wonderful time here and certainly met our expectations. Staff was super great!
Traveler's tip on dining
Location was good too! Go to Poogans Porch for dinner and try some real southern cookin (around the corner from the Inn). We sat in their inside dining room. Try a pre-dinner drink at the bar. The bartender knows the area very well!
