one of Melbourne’s best places to stay

reservation was intact at arrival, check in was efficient and facility was in very good condition. room was exceptionally clean, well presented with appropriate amenities at hand. after a long day of travel, it was a pleasure to have these accommodations available. the ’breakfast included’ service was vey nice, well presented. food was prepared well, and quite tasty. restaurant management was on site to answer any and all questions. was notified promptly of a waiting shuttle, prior to check out. check out process was as efficient and timely. billing receipt was accurante all personnel were cordial and pleasant in performing their respective responsibilities.

Big Corporate Profit Center

I was stunned to be told, upon check-in, that I needed to give them $100.00 cash, a credit card, or allow them to put a charge on my debit card for incidentals. No hotel up to that point had done this. We used no incidentals. Our room was opposite an entry door that closed with a horrendous clang. It was used frequently, including after 11:30pm. It was easy to hear people in the hall talking. The room was too cold, but when we tried to adjust the air conditioner the heater came on. It stank of burning hair. So we had to be cold. We had a fitful night being awoken several times. The breakfast cost $9.00 each. Instead we ate next door at the fast food for $12.00 for the for three of us. No other hotel charged for breakfast and the Marriott did not serve anything different from the other hotels. The room appointments while nice were not the most upscale that we saw either. So that’s not a draw for the the hotel. We were up before 6:00am and vacated the hotel as fast as we could. This hotel was packaged mediocrity and we will warn people to stay away. Florida has many other great hotels to stay at.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Try some of the older hotels that in their heyday were luxury resorts. They still have good features, plus good prices and ratings. If you have to stay at a modern hotel, our stay at the Wingate by Wyndham in St. Augustine was nice. It was better appointed and quieter than the Marroitt. Also breakfast was complimentary.

Great place to stay

This hotel is one of the nicest hotels in this area (and there are many); we were in Melbourne to attend our grandson’s graduation; we chose to take the "informal" graduation pictures outside of our room, near the gazebo, as it made a perfect background. Very clean and well-kept hotel!
