Great hotel and location
This was a great hotel. The beds were very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Traveler's tip for business travelers
Make sure you get off at the Marble Arch tube stop. It is right around the corner from the hotel.

A great experience
As a single female traveler I felt very comfortable and safe in this hotel. Loved the location, almost directly across from Hyde park and a convenient underground station right around the corner. My only complaint was being placed in the 2nd tower half a block from the main tower & all of the amenities, though they did upgrade my room for the inconvenience. The concierge was very helpful in booking my excursions which allowed me to skip long lines at virtually every attraction. I didnt eat or drink often in the hotel as the prices were a bit high but there were several restaurants & quick stops for sandwichs & drinks within several blocks. Theres also a convenient thomas cook across the street for any currency exchange or ATM needs. I would definitely recommend this clean, fairly quiet & comfortable hotel!!
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Remember to buy tickets for sightseeing excursions from the concierge as the lines are quite long for tickets and with the voucher from the hotel u can almost always walk right past the lines. I never noticed the prices being any different.

Very cool hotel, poor customer service
Both the lobby and the rooms were very cool, although the rooms were tiny. They were clean and comfortable. My only complaint was that the customer service was not at all friendly, and didnt go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The concierge was helpful, if not enthusiastic. I would stay here again if the price were right, as the location is excellent for shopping and very central for the tube service. But I would expecting small rooms and no extra pampering.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Look into buying an Oyster card for transportation around london. Cab far is expensive and 10 dollars on a card can get you all around london on the tube & bus system for a couple days.

I would stay there again
The location is good. The room was of decent size, and it was quiet. We were on the inside of the hotel, and not on the streets, which helped. I didnt hear anything at night, which was great. Having the Tube right there helped in getting around the city, and having Hyde Park right there was nice. I would definitely stay there again, and I recommend the hotel for others.

Good Location
The location of this hotel is great. It sits right on Oxford street shopping, and an underground station is nearby (less than 2 min walk). The hotel room we booked was really spacious with a great view(overlooking hyde park). The bathroom was really clean, with all the complimentary amentities, but we ran out of tissue the first day, and for the remainder of our stay the housekeeping staff didnt replace the empty container! The hotel staff were really friendly and attentative. The room had an iron with an iron pad, LCD TV, internet service (Not free, you have to purchase it from the reception). I would recommend this hotel for both tourists as well as for business travellers (a business center is availabe in the hotel).

Location, Location, Location
The excellent location of the hotel provides a lot of opportunities for tourists. Here are a few: 1) Transportion:It provides easy access to the public transportation (1 minute walk to the tube station/buses). 2) Park/Exercise: the hotel is located right across from the Marble Arch and Hyde Park. People can walk around the park, play soccor in the park, paddle in the park or just sunbathe in the park. 3)Shopping: Stepping out from the hotel and making a left turn, you are onto Oxford Street. Walking down the Oxford street, there are shops after shops that teeming with both tourists and locals. 4)Convenience stores: 1 minute from the hotel ( West On Oxford Street), there is a Sainsbury (grocery chain) that carries sandwiches, fruits, milk/yogurt, snacks and water; it opens till midnght. There is also a movie theater two doors down from the grocery store.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Getting a local travel pass and chose the one for traveling within Zone 1. This pass will pretty much cover all your travel needs from tourist attractions to shopping (it can be used for both bus and tube).

Great Location
The hotel is located on the tip of Hyde Park, on the west end of Oxford Street making it prime for Oxford shoppers, and Hyde goers. Marble Arch Underground station is directly under the property. The hotel has a great lobby and concierge were great, however it is a different world when you get out of the elevator on your room floor, not that the rooms are bad or anything, it is just not as (chic). The room was fair, but internet very expensive. A tip for travelers staying in this hotel (get an outside facing view) my room was facing inside, and it was not a good scene at all. Window Privacy was not great either!! However, I would close shut the curtains and stay here every time I go to London.

Very well located, clean and cheap!
Very well located at Marble Arch, in front of Hyde Park, 1 block from Oxford Street and easy to get busses / trains to any part of the city. Room was clean, well equiped and well maintained, only issue is room size (but it was a single room, so double room might be bigger). Big hotel so despite good quality staff there can be lines to check in / check out.

great location
The Cumberland was in a great location, close to the Marble Arch tube stop and Hyde Park. The room was spacious, by London standards and the bed was very comfortable. The only inconvenience was the bathroom. It was very long and narrow and not set up very well. The sink was directly behind the door and there was no towel holder near the sink. The only towel holders were above the toilet, which were high for a shorter person to reach and required walking across the bathroom (about 10 feet away from the shower). Also, there were no shelves in the shower to put toiletries on. Breakfast wasnt included, but we were flying out Sunday morning and none of the other local places were open, so we decided to try the hotel buffet. For the two of us it was going to cost 37 pounds (about $55)! We ended up grabbing a granola bar and then eating at the airport because it was cheaper. Other than the bathroom layout and the cost of breakfast, we really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Center of London
Since this was my first online hotel reservation, before the trip I called the hotels customer service to make sure everything was ok. The call center was very helpful and they immideately sent my reservation confirmation. My opinion is that the hotel is at a perfect location... Marble Arch tube station is just 20m. from the hotel. Oxford Street, many stores and Hyde Park are nearby. Arrival from the Heathrow airport was very easy: to London with the Heathrow Express, changed just one line to arrive at the Marble Arch station. Check in was unbelievably fast. The front desk personnel was really nice, we just had to provide a passport and fill in a short form and it was done. Room was daily changed and cleaned. We had small water boiler to make tea in the room which was very refreshing after a long day of walk. Our TV had a problem and we needed a travel adapter. We left our note in the morning to the concierge and in the afternoon we had a travel adapter in the room and our tv problem was solved. We were satisfied with the service (As far as we used it :-) ). One night the alarm sounded in our room. We checked it with the front desk and evacuated the room. I guess that was a kind of drill because apart from us there were only two more families who took it serious. If I find suitable rates in the future I would definitely prefer this hotel again and again.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Most of the hotels in London are close to a tube station anyway. But being real close to one, like just beneath the building or next door is something else. You can get in, relax and leave for your errands easily.

OK hotel, great location
The hotel was in a great location (right around the corner from the Marble Arch tube stop). The lobby was very modern...and had a heavily perfumed smell. The rooms were small, but comfortable. It looked like they tried to modernize an old building; some of the old building was apparent (stained, leaky ceiling in the hallway).

Best Location
Close to shopping and attractions. Dont forget to take the Total London Experience Tour by Golden Tours. Rooms were clean, the air-conditionor was not working very well. There is a club (CARBON) inside the hotel itself.

Not bad, but not great.
The hotel itself is fine, and in a great location. My room was small, but I didnt mind. The bed was quite comfortable. My only gripe was that the toilet wasnt cleaned and in fact it hadnt been flushed, if you know what I mean. Other than that, overall it is a nice place.

Great Location, great service.
The location of this hotel could not have been better (right off the very exciting Oxford St. across from Hyde Park). We arrived at Heathrow, hopped on the Heathrow express to Paddington station, then took a taxi (only a few pounds)to our hotel. We arrived at 9 a.m and were quickly given a comfortable room. The room itself was very clean and adequate. The size of the room was nothing grand, but still bigger than most hotels in London. I will definately recommend this hotel to friends and stay there again myself!
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
The London Hop on Hop off tour (red double-decker bus) is right across the street near hyde park. This is a great way to see the city. We didnt even need to use the tube, and saw many sites that you would miss if you did take the tube.

great central location, helpful staff, amazing ambience at the lobby, bar, club and restaurants.
The hotel has always been famous for its name and location. The renovation gave the hotel such a touchy ambience, especially at its groubd floor, including the lobby, cafe bar, restaurants and the Carbon club. The location is very strategic and convenient. The rooms are neither luxurious nor spatious, but yet they are convenient and are quite stylish. Finally, the staff were hospital and very helpful, especially Edgar at the reception (he is an awesome guy), and Aldona at the guest relations. I greatly recommend the hotel, and I cant wait to go back.
Traveler's tip on shopping
If you are looking for a luxurious room, then ask for the Junior suite or better look for another hotel. I donot recommend a single room, as it is quite small. I recommend the King deluxe, instead.

Excellent Hotel!
My wife and I just got back from London, and had a great stay at The Cumberland. The staff was very friendly & helpful, and as it has been said in numerous reviews, it is extremely convenient. We had coffee & croissants at the cafe right next door each morning, and then got on the tube which is right next to the cafe. We highly recommend it!
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Buy a travel card! They are good for 7 days, and you can use them to travel along the underground anywhere within the routes that you select. We purchased the travel cards for zones 1 & 2m and were able to get virtually anywhere we needed to go.

Great Location next to Tube Station
The hotel was overal very good but there were some minor problems. At the check in there was a confusion over rooms that were held for us. We had two parties in two different room and they seemed to not understand which room was held for whom. Second minor problem was the water in our sink. The cold water tap was not running properly. The last problem was he breakfast is to expensive. It is excellent but the price I think they could lower for there guests. There is some good highlights though It is located in a great area right next to a whole bunch of restaurants and is on Oxford street that has all the big shops. It is also located next to Marble Arch Tube station which is extremely convenient. It is also 20 minute walk to Piccidily Circus, Trafalgar Square, and Buckingham Palace. Plenty of traditional pubs around, one notible is the Three Tuns which is in the back of the hotel. Overal the hotel is great and it was our 5th time staying there and we would go back again if we dont find something better for the price.
Traveler's tip on dining
There is plenty of places to eat there. It is one of the centers for dining and shopping. There is everything from nightclubs to KFCs. McDonnels, Wasabi, KFC, Pret A Manger, and Pizza Hut are all extremely close annd are reasonably priced. There are some nice resaurants around such as the Rhodes W1 which is in the hotel(pricey but worth it)Selfridges which is the deparment tore buit they have a number of very nice restaurants in it.

Decent hotel but awful service!
The hotel is nice and very conveniently located (close to shopping, tube, etc,) and quiet for the area. The heater was broken in my room. I called for repair and was told someone would be there shortly. No one showed up. I called 30 mn later and was told there was no record of the incident. I said it was freezing in the room, they said theyd send someone. Again no one showed up. I called again and demanded repair by the time I got back from dinner. All they did was bring a portable heater to the room and never fixed the heater! Also the WIFI prices are a mjor rip-off. Stay somewhere else...
