Badly run; terrible food

The staff was young and well-intentioned, but very badly trained (or perhaps not trained at all). I arrived at 11 a.m. and was told no rooms were ready; though I checked back frequently between 11 and 3 pm (when I had to leave for meetings), nothing materialized. I suggested that they call me when a room was ready, and my cell # was taken, but no call came. Lunch at the hotel restaurant was terrible in quality and served erratically. My room service dinner came without a main component (hummus and bread, in an antipasti platter), and when I called to inquire, I was told that they were out of hummus, and that I could have dessert if I wanted instead.

Stay at the Mariott across the street!

The room was nice and clean but the bed was stiff as a board, extremely uncomfortable. There were not many restaurants near the hotel and the one in the hotel opened late for dinner and for some reason the cook came out and told the waiting guests to sit wherever we wanted. There was one server and we ended up back in the room ordering room service, which took close to an hour to get. This was a Saturday night with a convention and event at the coliseum taking place I would expect better service from a Hilton hotel.

Really not impressed with the service.

We had our daughter and other family traveling with us and requested 2 rooms next to, or close to, each other. They had open rooms but put us as far apart as possible. We were given a room without a bath tub that was for a handicapped person, we are not handicapped. The TV remote was not working. Our friends had left gift bags for us and we had to ask for them and even when we asked the woman behind the front desk was reluctant to give them to us. Had we not know they had been left and didn’t ask, we never would have gotten them. The service and food at the bar was very good, but the front desk service was horrible.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The area in Richmond was a nice area, but almost all of the store fronts, other hotels and businesses were empty, making it had to find things to do, places to eat, and very scary to walk around. I would stay out side of the city center next time.
