Excellent Hotel in a great area
I have stayed in many business hotels in Beijing - obviously this is no business hotel, but then it only lacks the gym and pool which I never use anyway! Best stay ever in a unique friendly atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff in a nice part of town.

Very cool addition to Beijing experience
We arrived very late due to a flight delay, but someone was still awake and able to help us at 4am. The lanterns in the courtyard were all lit up and created a really cool atmosphere. The rooms were neat, with traditional Chinese bed frames (should be noted that hard mattresses are standard in China)and a modern, clean bathroom. Small space, but part of the vibe. The grounds are peaceful and sitting in the courtyard you feel like youre back in another time. The hotel is right off a main street full of shops and restaurants. Staff were helpful when we called for assistance with telling the cab driver where the hotel was located. I would definitely go back there.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
If going to the Wall, definitely worth booking with an English tour. Chinese tours leaving from the tourism bus station will get you there, but with a few extra stops, meaning that a trip to the closest spot on the Wall (Baidaling) took us an entire day. Plus the tour guide only speaks Chinese. Either book a tour, or take the local bus for a cheap, tourist trap free visit to the Wall.

Would definitely stay here again!
The staff was courteous and friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The hutong was delightful, many shops and restaurants nearby and the area was amazingly quiet at night.

Check out the Houhai Lake area. Great food and fun paddle boats!
