Great stay in Miami Beach!

We stayed for five nights at The Mondrian and really had a wonderful time. We had a large studio room, with a separate dining/kitchenette area. The room was much larger than we had expected. We found all of the staff at the hotel to be very friendly and helpful. We had a slight issue with the air conditioning unit in our room. But once it was fixed, it was fine. The pool area is beautiful! We were there over a weekend and were able to enjoy their "pool party" on Sunday, where they have DJs spinning. It was a relaxing, but fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Asia de Cuba, the onsite restaurant is also great. One thing to note, pretty much everything at The Mondrian is going to be a bit more expensive than you expect it, from the restaurant, to the poolside service to the internet access ($15 per day). And then of course, there is the tipping - doorman/valet, pool boys, waitresses, etc. We were happy to do it though as everyone was really that friendly. The location was nice, as it is in Miami Beach, but not South Beach - so you’re away from all of the noise and craziness (unless of course, that is why you went to Miami in the first place!). We took cabs at times, but were also able to walk as Ocean Drive and Lincoln Ave were each about eight blocks away. There is also a Whole Foods less than a block from the hotel, which is a great place to stock up on drinks and snacks for the room.

Make sure you go to Indomania and/or Ola while in town. Fantastic food!

Mondrain SoBe-Don’t waste your money

The hotel was not in a great location; sun didn’t come around until afternoon; balcony was poorly furnished, room was very poorly furnished and uncomfortable.

Our experience at the Mondrian

We have stayed in many upscale hotels around the country and enjoyed staying at this hotel. They upgraded our room to one with a view of the bay, which was breathtaking. Sunsets were gorgeous with the outline of the city’s skyscrapers. The pool is also gorgeous and takes advantage of the view of the bay, amazing poolside service. The location is about a five- ten minute walk from carson street shopping. The beds were extremely comfortable. The only negatives of this hotel pertain to room design. There was no furniture in which to place clothes-closets with hangers only. Also, the bathroom was beautiful but poorly designed from a functional standpoint. There is no counter in the bathroom- only a long rectangular basin in which faucet runs, so there was no easy place to set hair straightener/ electric razor, etc. Overall a beautiful hotel with great service.
