Clean bedrooms, uncomfortable bed

Despite the hotel’s exterior, the interior was lovely, especially the atrium. Bedroom was clean. Only downside was the bed was solid as a rock and I couldn’t sleep well. Also, be aware that they will not let you check in a minute before 2pm, which is unfortunate if you are coming from North America and your flight arrives early in the morning.

Nice Place to Stay

We went for a long weekend. Although the hotel is a nice clean hotel I wouldn’t call it luxury. But the staff was friendly,and helpful. Parking was available on site, but it was full and under construction. Lots to do an see a really fun city.

Not impressed

While the lobby area was very contemporary, the rooms were severly outdated and in need of renovations. The location is great however the hotel has very limited parking forcing most guests to park miles away. If this is truly a 4 star hotel I would hate to stay in anything less. I would not go back to this hotel again.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

There is always a good nightlife no matter the time of year with many pubs, clubs and casinos. While far more active a city in the summer, crowds of people can still be found in the winter escaping London on weekends.

Air conditioning broken, nothing to drink in vending machines

We just returned from a trip in which we spent two nights in this hotel. The nights we stayed were two of the most uncomfortable of my life - the rooms were far too hot, the windows do not open and the air conditioning does not function. The vending machines were empty of drinks -- probably because the entire hotel was stuffy and unbearable upstairs. We complained about the heat and drinks to no avail. We would not have stayed the second night except that my two year old got sick, I think from the overheating, making it too hard for us to move to another hotel. In addition to the heat, the halls and entry way of this hotel are old and shabby, the staff are very unhelpful, the garage is overpriced ($16 a day) and very dark and unpleasant to negotiate. I have no idea why this hotel has a four star rating. We have stayed all over the world, this is one of the worst hotel experiences ever. It is in a great location, right on the sea front, but so are many others in Brighton. Pick another one with climate control.

Staff needs work

The hotel is in a great location, and the rooms are nice and big in comparison to British standards. The rooms don’t seem very old, and are equiped with chairs, and iron and board, and a blow dryer. Its pretty good for the price, and MUCH better than other places (like ho(s)tels) in Brighton The beds were big and comfortable, but the cleaning staff does not change the sheets daily, and even after our sheets had been stained with room service (small menu and overpriced), we had to call room service and ask for new sheets - twice! and we stayed for a whole week. There was ONE very helpful staffer at the front desk, who knew of the places to go to at night, and helped changed our sheets after cleaning didn’t. The rest of the staff was unhelpful, one lady could not even get us the number to Dominos, so we asked if there was a phonebook, and she said we had to come to the front desk to get it. When we got there she said there wasn’t one, then later found it after we told her how dissatisfied we were.

Don’t bother with the Room Service, there was a small selection, it was over priced, and not very tasty. Instead check out placed like Me Olde China or Buddies which are near by. And Dominos can be deliever, and the front desk will allow them up to your room.

Great stay

We stayed 2 nights during our vacation in Europe. We had two children with us ages 9 and 10 and had a great stay. Staff was very accomodating. Location is outstanding. Breakfast is expensive so we just walked to local bakeries and bought our breakfast there. We would stay there again in a minute.

Would Stay Here Again

Great location, Very Nice Hotel. Room was very large by English standards. Hotel Staff were very nice, Lobby is nice, and there is a indoor swimming pool and small gym on the ground floor which is great for the kids. We would definately return. Splurge and get an ocean facing room. It’s worth it.

Take the Local Coast Route BUS for an amazing and inexpensive view of the wonderful Coast and small charming villages.

good hotel

The hotel is well-situated and is overall pretty good. The advertised in-room internet access is bogus though. You have to use the wireless connection in the lobby and it’s very slow. The only other comment is that it can get crowded near the front desk. When this happens, the lines become difficult to manage. It would be easier if they would get rid of the displays of jewelery etc. Do they really make any money from these items? It’s a bit tacky and they get in the way!
