Nice Hotel
I liked the Austrotel. If you’re going to be walking from the train station, it’s a little bit of a walk, but nothing terrible. People at the front desk were nice. Call the front desk for free wi-fi. The hotel is well within walking distance of all the sites in Salzburg. Overall, I’d recommend staying here.

Great location, nice folks
The hotel was very nice, good location. Easy walk from the train station, right near many bus routes, and an easy walk to the old town. All the staff we interacted with were helpful and pleasant. Our room was on the front of the hotel (quite a busy street, buses and street noise were prevalent). It was loud until pretty late at night. We were in Salzburg during a hot time, and since there was no air conditioning, it was difficult to cool off. We found that keeping the room door open (while we were up and alert) allowed for enough cross-ventilation to let the room get comfortable for sleeping.
