DON’T STAY. It is a complete dump.
Booked the hotel expecting that a national chain like Howard Johnson would have decent quality, but I was wrong. I booked 3 rooms and it took me opening the doors to the rooms to immediately realize I wasn’t staying there. I lost my money for all 3 rooms, but I didn’t stay there. Please read the other reviews. They are absolutely true. I didn’t pay attention to the reviews and ended up losing my money. The place is run down, and the rooms had an overwhelming musty smell. The carpets were stained and the bathrooms were dated and scratched up. We found a large bug like a cricket on the floor inside, and though it was dead, but when we kicked it, it ran off. Please don’t waste your money. There are many really nice hotels in Traverse City for about the same price. I lost money on 3 rooms, but it was simply below my standards, and this is the first time I have come across such a hotel. READ THE REVIEWS ON OTHER SITES AS WELL. THEY ARE TRUE!

disgusting (sorry to say)
Room was listed as "non-smoking" but reeked of smoke and mold. Room was musty and had water/rust stains on the walls. Bathroom was disgusting. I had pre-paid since I thought given the location and my knowledge of Traverse City, it would be OK. However, I was so disgusted by the room that I almost left and would have eaten the cost. I would rather have slept in my car.
