Dont do it!
"Resort" is a misnomer. The hotel is split into multiple parts, and one has to walk a few blocks to check in--once one actually finds the check-in desk. It was so desolate (it was fall, so maybe that made a difference), that we feared a little for our safety. The location really is in the boonies, so dont expect to see options for dining. The one restaurant had fairly edible food and nice wait staff. Had we not been in the position to lose out on our $, we would have turned around and driven the 40 or so miles back to Carlsbad.
Traveler's tip
Dont arrive here hungry, especially not after 7:00 p.m. or so, when the one restaurant closes. Bring food with you!

Resort?
With a name that includes the word "Resort", This hotel should raise its standards to that of a Resort Hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive, but the property and rooms need improving. Our first room had plumbing problems, however, we were quickly moved to another room. I think this place is the only hotel close to the caverns. There is nothing open after 8pm. That makes for a peaceful evening, but some like to dine later.

Disappointing
The room was very dated - bedspread, carpets, etc., appeared to have been in place for far too many years. TV reception was very poor. Cleanliness was very poor - especially in the bathroom, including the shower. MAJOR renovations are desparately needed.
