Excellent Value
For those looking for a quiet vacation setting with the beach front almost at your front door, this would be your place to stay. We had a 2bdr beachfront on the 3rd floor....absolutely beautiful apt. very nice furnishings. gleaming white tile floors, new bathrooms etc. nothing second rate in the whole place....and the best bargain for the money i could find. the best feature would be the staff (Eddie). a warm welcome, anything you need, very accomodating. we used the hotel’s recommended shuttle (fee). they were waiting on us when we arrived, took us straight there. use the full kitchen unless you got money to burn. prices were outrageous compared to US, but do try the blue moon grille (one block walk). peaceful at night with the surf crashing in your front yard. if you want the bustle of the city, wrong place. if you want a top notch quiet vacation spot.......this would be your place.

Affordable, perfect beach across the way, and great managers!
We wanted to stay in Cairns since that was where all the tour boats were but I noticed that there was no beach to stay on there! I looked for beach hotels and found apartments in Trinity Beach along the beach and The Roydon was very affordable and had great reviews so I booked it. My husband and I are so glad we did. We took the local bus into Cairns for our snorkel tours and would have been very dissapointed if we would have stayed in Cairns since your view is of a bay that is half dirt and you cannot swim or tan on the beach since there isn’t one! Trinity Beach had everything close by - we walked to the huge grocery store and cooked a lot of our own meals which saved money, we walked to the great Chianti’s restaurant which was the most affordable place with the best food in Trinity Beach, and enjoyed being able to swim in the ocean then walk to our apartment and shower. The managers at the Roydon will help you out in whatever you need and helped book our tours, etc. Overall, we look forward to returning soon and don’t know why we would stay anywhere else! Highly recommend.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Buy your own groceries since most restaurants are very pricey in Trinity Beach EXCEPT for Chianti’s and the little beach place next to it which has burgers, hot dogs, etc. for very inexpensive prices. If you like snorkeling and diving and dont’ need the fancy big boat, take the Cairns Dive Center tour since they take you to an awesome location and are very fun and friendly for about 1/2 the price of the other tours.

Sunrise at Trinity Beach
Our family enjoyed a wonderful week at the Roydon. The rooms were very spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped but not luxurious. Eddie was great helping us organize tourist trips and it is very close to a bus stop making it easy to get around w/o a car. Several good restaurants are within a minute walk and grocery, butcher, video and liquor stores are a 10 min walk. The grocery store will bring you and your groceries back to the Roydon in a van. Be warned that that the spa is "solar heated" i.e., it’s the same temperature as the pool. We highly recommend the Roydon for a great place to stay near Cairns.

We enjoyed all of the three restaurants we tried near the Roydon: Thai Bangkok Rose, L’Unico and Chiantti’s.
