Beautiful Hotel
This was our first night in Italy. The hotel in Livorno was great, the staff accomodating. After traveling all night we were looking for an early dinner. Walked down into the city and everything was either a deli type restaurant or didnt open until 7 or 8 pm. Went back to the hotel to grab a bite in the hotel and found the restaurant didnt open until 8. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. Pool area looked great, very inviting, except a little cool in an October evening. Finally found a pizza place almost next door. Food and wine was great! Only stayed one night, but would stay there again.
We took the train from Rome to Livorno and found out you do not have a lot of time to get off the train. By the time we gathered all our luggage and got the the door, the door had closed and the train was moving again. We rode on to Pisa and then caught the next train back. An adventure that taught us to move quickly! Another note, when we were in Rome getting on the train to the airport, there was a nice guy helping everyone with their luggage as they boarded the train. Turns out he was a theif and took one of our backpacks. It happened so quickly and there were four of us and no one saw him leave. I would only store my luggage in the middle of the train, not near the door.

staying in Livorno, Italy
If you are in Livorno, this is the best place. However, service is not great. There was no bellman to get your bags on arrival. No concierege and no one working at the new Spa. Recommendations for restaurants werent great. Room Air Conditioning was limited and uncomfortable. Positives: Excellent restaurant on rooftop and views of the sea are great. Should not be rated any more than 4 star although it looks like a 5 star hotel.
Traveler's tip on dining
There are some really great local restaurant/pizzerias in Livorno and seek out small places. No such thing as a bad meal here.
