Great value and helpful staff

The Ilima provided a great base while we attended a professional conference and then toured Ohau. The front desk staff was most helpful and attentive. They provided good dining and transit suggestions and accepted our request without a blink to move to a room overlooking the canal, golf course and mountains. The sun was also less intense on that side of the building. Although the hotel is a little dated it is comfortable and provides great value. The presence of a full kitchen in the room meant that we were able to breakfast economically in the comfort of our own room and easily pack picnic lunches for trips around the island.

The beaches we most enjoyed were at Waimanalo Bay Beach Park (Sherwood Forest, where beautiful trees provided opportunities to duck out of the sun when overheated) and Turtle Beach where we were able to enjoy the company of up to four 200+ lb sea turtles lazing on the sand. Our most enjoyable meal was at Haleiwa Joe’s Seafood Grill overlooking the yacht harbor and Rainbow Bridge in Haleiwa on the North Shore, great food, staff and view.

great stay away from crowds

I’f you want to stay away from the crowds but close to the hot spots and still have peace and quite this is the place.Unless you demand a great view. The hotel was very clean and large. the kitchenette was a major plus.Freinds stayed at the moana surfrider two blocks away from the ilima and they were impressed by the hotel and room for the price. Stores are close by to grab quick food to make in your room for those nights or mornings you want to stay in. international market a block down .starbucks accross the street becouse you have a coffee maker but they do not supply coffee, filters, suger, nothing(major bummer). If you want a rental car this is a plus the parking is free in a covered garage.Parking at other places range from $10 to $30 a day.Great memories, after seeing most of honolulu hotels this is the place i will return to.P.S. if you like the ocean view,a robe in your room,up to date furnishings you might not like the ilima.if your down to earth, stay here.
