Magical

Thank you Expedia for making this dream of a hotel affordable. We loved our time there. The staff throughout the hotel was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The hotel is absolutely magical because of its location and charm. Would recommend to ANYONE!

The hotel was awesome

We had a suite (it was our honeymoon). They gave us some free stuff (probably because it was our honeymoon), including champagne and fresh fruit on a couple of occasions. The suite had two bathrooms, one of which was just a half-bath, and the other had a large jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Since it was between seasons, some of the restaurants in the hotel were not open, or were only open on weekends. Most of the restaurants in the hotel were pretty expensive, so we ate most of our meals in the nearby Lake Louise Village or in Banff. But we did really enjoy one fancy dinner in the Walliser Stube wine bar. The food was awesome, but probably the most expensive restaurant I’ve ever eaten at (and paid for myself).

You can save some money on meals by eating in the Lake Louise Village, which is about 4 or 5 miles from the Chateau. But in general, everything is more expensive there than what you’re probably used to.

Nice but BIG Hotel

The hotel is very nice, but it is big! It’s alot bigger that what I expected. It almost felt like a hotel in Las Vegas. It’s the only hotel on the lake though. It was really nice to stroll by the lakeside after dinner. Also, there are great trailheads practically right outside for excursions during the day. The staff was friendly and helpful. Check out the horseback riding and the teahouse at Lake Agnes...they were certainly highlights on our trip.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Please be aware that once you are there, everything is very expensive! There’s not alot of economical options, so expect to spend on food, etc. To cut expenses a little bit, there is a "mall" down the road with a little grocery store. We picked up snacks, etc. so we didn’t have to eat at a restaurant for every meal. Also, the hotel charges $25/day for parking. There is a public parking area just a little further walk than the garage. If I went back, I’d check into parking there instead.

Don’t miss this!

If it is at all possible, reserve a room that looks out on the Lake Louise. You will not regret it.

Nice stay at Chateau Lake Louise

This hotel is premium priced, but it is lovely. They upgraded us to a junior suite, which was very nice indeed, and had a perfect view of the lake and glacier. The only negatives, typical of luxury hotels, was having to pay rather high fees for parking and internet service. I’ll never know why these items can be provided gratis at lower prices hotels, and charged at luxury properties. We ate at the Fairview room, which was once again expensive, but a nice experience.

Be sure you stay at 7th Gold floor...unforgettable.

All the details are taken into account. We stayed at the 7th floor (gold) so we had private lounge, the suite was cleaned twice a day... It’s all about the lake that is simply unbelievably beautiful. We just felt that paying for parking on top of what we had already paid for the room it does not make any sense.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Go outside and explore all the surroundings...there are many trails and lakes you can’t miss! You can use the free parking lot...is also safe.

A Beautiful Experience!

Although there were quite a few guests at Chateau Lake Louise, the staff met the challenge. Everything was perfectly orchestrated from the front desk to a wonderful dinner in the main dining room. Our room was also lovely and spotlessly clean.. The crowning jewel, of course, is Lake Louise itself. Its aquamarine beauty set against the backdrop of the snow capped glacier is breathtaking and unforgettable.

Location, location, location

Three things you need to know. 1. Lake Louise is a must see place. 2. The original hotel has no AC. So if you’re going between May and September, your lake front room will be boiling in the afternoon unless you book your room in the new addition. 3. Room type is only a request via expedia or any other booking engine. If you want your room type honored, book directly through the hotel.

A little disappointed with the service

A beautiful hotel in an outstanding location. The staff were pleasant, but on three occasions ill informed. The concierge, on our 45th wedding anniversary, gave us the incorrect information on the hotel restaurants and made our dinner reservation at a restaurant that served pub food. The restaurant manager did a good job in moving us to a fine dining restaurant. Our room was on the cool side and we could not get the heating to function. The staff told us that there was no heating in the room, so turn off the air conditioning. We eventually got some heat on, but then that failed. Since it was not too cool we complained but took no further action. There was a motion detector in the room and none of the staff could explain the reason. I expected better trained staff in a hotel of this quality.

Story Book Visit

The hotel was beautiful. Our room was fabulous. It was center front with a story book view of Lake Louise and the glacier. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Traveler's tip on dining

The Fairview Dining Room in the Fairmont Chateau is excellent. We started with scallops and our main coarse was bison. Superb!!

Excellent stay

We picked this package trip as our honeymoon and it was fabulous. The hotel was beautiful as well as the surrounding areas. The hotel staff was very friendly and there are several very nice restaurants. The hotels concierge service was excellent and provided us with many fun activities as well as setting up all of our meals. This was a great trip.

Best Hotel at Lake Louise

We spent one night at lake view room. Unfortunately it was rainy day. But we just waited the blue sky at the hotel room and could see and take a picture of the beautiful lake louise.

One of my worst hotel experiences ever

Arrogant and unhelpful staff. Overpriced given the declining condition of the hotel, it looks like the owner’s are really sweating the assets hard. The health club and pool are very run down. Car parking fees were ridiculous given there is no other way to get to the hotel other than by car. Location was great however there are other options in Lake Louise that more friendly and have more charm with better service. I’m unlikely to ever venture into a Fairmont hotel again.

Met Our Expectations

This hotel was as nice as you would expect for such a famous place. The room was very comfortable and furnished nicely. The staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful. The grounds were spectacular with some of the most beautiful displays of flowers I have ever seen. The only negative about the hotel, and it is symptomatic of everything in the Canadian Rockies, was the high price of food. Although the food was uniformly excellent, the prices were very high to the point of being distracting. Other than that, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Super place!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

The hike to the Plain of the Six Glaciers is a bit strenuous, but well worth the hike. Don’t miss Moraine Lake just down the road; it is the most beautiful of the alpine lakes that we saw- even prettier than Lake Louise.

Beautiful spot

The room was delightful. The staff was always courteous and very respectful. With one exception. The manager avoided me. Would not speak to me. All the food is very good. You can ask to walk the hotel dog "Sonny". Great people watching and wonderful hiking.Super shopping too.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Lot’s of activities near by to see and do. Take advantage.

A Landmark on Lake Louise

This hotel is lovely and the staff was extremely professional and helpful. I asked for a room with a/c and a pillow top mattress, and I got both of them. It wasn’t guaranteed, but they were able to accomodate me. The view wasn’t the best, but the price that we paid for the room was probably the least expensive so I totally understood. They asked if I wanted to upgrade to a better view, but I declined. Ate one meal at the Saloon and it was pricey and not that good. The service was adequate, nothing special

Traveler's tip on dining

Try to avoid eating at the hotel. Very overpriced.

This is the place to stay!!

We heard great things about the Lake Louise area near Banff. Under recommendation, we booked our stay on the Gold Floor at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The Service was top notch, and exceeded our high expectations. We would not stay anywhere else on a return trip.

This hotel is a gem on a gem of a lake. We only wish they had more informal outdoor lounge seating--who wants to sit inside and have a drink on a beautiful afternoon?

Impressive Hotel

The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is really a wonderful hotel. We went there on our honeymoon at the end of August and we had perfect weather! We were originally put in a non-lakeview room which was OK, but then they moved us to a room with a lake view. It was gorgeous! I have to say that the meals are very expensive, CAD$26 for the breakfast buffet for example. The breakfast buffet was the least impressive meal I had at the hotel. The Stube, the Fairview Dining room, and the Saloon all had excellent food/drink. The hotel management spends their money well with excellent staff and lovely grounds to compliment the natural beauty surrounding the hotel. I definitely reccomend this hotel!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

It is easy to spend a lot at this hotel. You can save money during the day by doing free activities such as hiking, sight seeing, driving, and sitting by the many lakes and streams in the area. Hiking trails are very well marked.

Can’t wait to go back, honestly. While certainly pricey, you get what you pay for.

Excellent service from the man in the driveway who greets you (offered w/out asking the two parking options: valet or self-park) to the front desk and especially, to whomever answered my room phone with a number of questions I had about the hotel and the immediate Village of Lake Louise area...most helpful and always courteous and pleasant! Location is incredible!!! with hiking trails leading out directly from the Chateau. If you don’t have a wonderful experience, it’s your own fault.
