Smells very bad
The room is very small, we booked for 2, but the room has only one small bed. The hotel is old and smells awful, the shared bathroom were clean and available. The hotel is about 6 blocks away to the 14 st subway station. The only elevator isold and frightening like Twilight Zone Ride in MGM studios, so we prefer to use the stairs.

Fun once, but never again
Im always up for an adventure, and sleeping in a super-cheap (for NYC) ship-bunker-sized room sounded kinda fun. But this hotel is just not fully ready to accept guests. The top floor is under construction, which led to some noise and the general uneasiness of workers hanging around everywhere. The elevator was out of service when I first arrived, which meant hefting bags up five flights of stairs. The trendy club Id read about downstairs and was looking forward to experiencing was closed for renovations. The first room I was in had no cell phone service, and the one they moved me to on the outside of the building only had service when I leaned out toward the window. And despite the cold temperatures outside, the room was hot enough that I had to turn on the air conditioner -- a window-type unit that kept switching on and off and rattling and waking me up all night long. Not a great experience. The staff was extremely pleasant. They even dug out an umbrella someone had left behind to help me when it started pouring rain and I had no rain gear of my own. And I LOVED the new Highline park nearby, which I hadnt seen before. A true urban oasis. But there are other cheap, shared-bathroom hotels in New York that are MUCH MUCH better equipped to actually handle guests.
Spring and Fall are the ultimate in NY. If winter, wear serious boots -- the slush puddles can swallow you! In Summer, the heat is some of the most oppressive on Earth...

Quaint Stay in Greenwich!
Its definitely a must see. The beds are short, so it may be uncomfortable if youre much taller than 59"; however, they were perfect for us. The staff at the hotel was delightful. On one particularly awful rainy day, the bellhop even gave us umbrellas to use throughout the city that we could keep. The bathrooms (at the end of each hallway) were lovely, and clean. And I would highly recommend going. I definitely plan on returning anytime Im in NYC. Because youre on a quiet side street, your stay there is delightful!!
