Very nice
The service, food, and rooms were great. The grounds were kept very clean. What I didn’t like were the stones on the beach I wish there was more sand.

I enjoyed my stay....
I thought the Microtel Mactan was a very nice place to stay. The rooms were nice and clean. The whole place was nice and clean. All of the food I ate there was delicious, and reasonable price. The staff seemed a little inexperienced, but tried very hard to make you happy, A+ effort. I found it very easy to find a nice private place to sit and relax out by the beach or the pool. The only things I did not care for but really can’t be helped is that the room was not very quiet. You can hear people walking in the halls, or moving furniturt in the room above you. The whole place is cement and tile, so echos and vibrations will carry. But the fact that it is a smaller resort, and you get more personal service, and you can find privacy to be alone and relax far outweighed any small annoyance because of the noise. I will stay there again on my next trip, and I have recommended the Microtel Mactan to all my friends and family.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
If the hotel calls a cab for you the cabbie will charge you twice as much as if you leave the premisis and find a cab. You can always take a Jeepney to the Lapu Shrine 1 mile, and easily find a cab there. Jeepneys are a fun experience too for a short trip.

Good value
Quite new, bright and clean 3 star hotel. Rooms large and well appointed but not stoked with minibar etc. Fully tiled floors can mean a little extra noise but also add to the "freshness" of the rooms. The "beach" is not a beach in the sense as an Australian you would associate with the word "beach" but the pools are clean and well maintained. The area is very "local" but with a few major hotels (at much higher prices), but it is reasoably easy and inexpensive to get places by taxi.
