A great deal1

We booked this hotel since it has several natural mineral pools, yet it was quite inexpensive (through expedia) in comparison to other mineral springs hotels. It is a family place, so the pool area is not as quiet as adult spas. However, it was pretty and clean. The pool area is open 24 hours and practically empty at night. On an autumn weekday at noon, there were a few other adults and a few families, so it was still fairly quiet. Our standard room was big, nice and clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We liked the private balcony even though it had a ground floor view of the parking lot. The restaurant had great prices and our brunch was very good - not gourmet, but tasty. We’d definitely stay here again!

Nice for families and kid friendly - but location not so great.

This hotel is a good spot for families especially if you have young kids. The service was good and room was clean. We enjoyed the late night hours in the pool and mineral spa/jacuzzi - that’s a plus - though it doesn’t really feel like hot springs - more like a regular jacuzzi. The decor and overall feel of this hotel is like a Holiday Inn - nothing special here - but staff is friendly. We didn’t try any of the spa treatments but the restaurant was good for breakfast and service was fine. I wouldn’t recommend this for couples looking for romance - there are alot nicer and more romantic spots over in Palm Springs just about 10 minutes away. But the kiddies will LOVE the 6 different pools.

Desert Hot Springs is like the local residence area with a Kmart and lots of inexpensive basic shopping etc - there is a GREAT small Korean Restaurant called Palm Korea right in DHP. Note - if you are a Mid-Century buff looking for the Lautner Motel - good luck - most of the locals have never heard of it and we had to earch and search until we finally found it hidden away in a residential area way back behind one of the country clubs. For an architectural landmark it is way off the main route.

Excellent service; aging facility

The services were better than expected: Restaurant provided good food and service at reasonable prices; the front desk was very well organized. Facility was clean, but not recently updated. We enjoyed one of the hot spring pools, but did not use the spa facilities. Joshua Tree park entrances are not near hotel.

Would not return

Overpriced. Some of public spaces - corridors and elevators - very poorly maintained.

Great Hot Springs!

The hotel is a little "Old School" but the staff was friendly, the room clean and the pools were great!

It was only a 20 minute drive to downtown Palm Springs to take advantage of the shopping and dining and then leave the crowds behind and head back to the pools!

Awesome Hot Tubs

This is a wonderful hotel. The staff is extremely friendly, the dining room food delicious (and we very rarely eat in the hotel restuarant for dinner), the rooms comfortable and very clean. The pool and hot tubs are the best thing - fun, relaxing, never felt crowded (although there were plenty of people staying at the hotel). It really made our stay. The kids swam, the grownups enjoyed the different hot tubs each w/ their own temperature - very relaxing.

Great pool area, not impressed with the rest

Stayed there during a weekend. Service during breakfast was inattentive. Rooms were clean but could benefit from some remodeling. The pool area was great though.

Loved it

Going into the front lobby it looked like we were checking into a high-priced hotel. There is free wireless internet in all the rooms, a nice restaurant, room service, spa activities, nicely landscaped pool and surroundings, a large heated swimming pool and lots of smaller hot tubs, a nice room with a fridge and microwave and it was very quiet in there at night. The gift shop was a little anemic - for instance, it didn’t have any towels with Miracle Springs on it to buy. The first night we were there, it was awsome to swim at night in the warm pool, and most people at the hotel were out in the pool and hot tubs, though it was not too crowded. The second night it was real windy, so not much fun.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There is an IMax in Cathedral City, about a 20 minute drive, that has family movies, the Cimerron Golf course not too far away that has a nice par-3 course and is kid friendly, the avaiation museum which is excellent, the gondola to Mt. San Juancinto, Joshua Tree park, the waterfall in Taquitz canyon, and many other things to see and do.

Great spas!!

Good hotel. Great pool and many spas with different temperatures are the highlight of this hotel. Family oriented. Food is good. Many choices for kids too. Restaurant service, a bit slow. They might be understaffed. The only downside of this hotel is the check in and out time. In at 4 pm, out at 11. The check out time is inconvenient.

Desert Oasis

We found this hotel and spa thru Expedia and had not been to Desert Hot Springs before. Our short stay could not have been better and surely was not long enough. The spa and mineral pools were fabulous as was the food, room and all the staff were all wonderful and accomodating. The grounds were manicured and restful and it wasn’t far to drive into the larger desert cities.

Relaxing getaway

Much nicer spot than sister hotel/spa the Desert Hot Springs, which is more suited to singles/partygoers-this hotel is quieter with nice selection of hot pools and one swimming pool, open 24 hrs, very relaxing and picturesque setting. However, most of the jets in pools do not work, a huge negative. Helpful information is not posted, such as you can use the facilites at sister spa, Desert Hot Springs, and exercise classes that are open to guests of both hotels. I saw this when the water was turned off for an indefinite amt of time the day we were checking out and I had to go over to DHS to shower, an idea I came up with (the front desk people had no solution). Not very good customer service or follow thru r/t the severe plumbing problem they were having. Another disadvantage is lack of any good restaurants in entire town. We did not use any spa services so cannot rate them but I believe them to be good. We will go back as long as the prices continue to be low.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Don’t miss the Palm Springs Follies if that interests you, and Joshua National Park.
