Great Access to Gatwick

While nothing special, this hotel is situated directly off of the North Terminal of Gatwick. Getting to and from the airport is simple and even to the trains to go into London.

Great Hotel...little hard to get to ....

We only stayed one night at the Sofitel Hotel at the Gatwick Airport as we need to catch a connecting flight to Canada. From the south Terminal it was a bus ride and then a maze route to find the hotel which was across the bus/drop off area in the parkade...after a long flight this was not wanted. The hotel after we arrived was fantastic, clean and just what we needed. We then went to the south terminal where there was easy access to the Tube and off to London for the evening!... Alittle hard to get to but worth it!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Do some leg work... internet is the key to help out the sudden traveler. Take a few minutes at the airport or hotel to search on what you want to see and how to get there..plus there are great forums and travel blogs to guide you in the right direction! Hate to be the one at the airport cscratching there head saying now waht?

Great Experience

Great experience at the Sofitel London Gatwick. Professional staff, clean rooms, very easy to get to from the Airport. Highly recommend this hotel for stays in the London Gatwick area.

Would certainly return!

Don’t let the exterior of the hotel put you off as the interior is in fact quite impressive! It was a pity that the special direct walkway to the north terminal was closed off during our visit as it meant luggage had to be dragged through a dingy car park and in and out of lifts. We were somewhat surprised to find such a long queue when checking in... extra staff would have speeded up the process We found the plastic card which activated the lift was rather temperamental - and it was apparent others did too! The room was both very comfortable and clean. Staff was efficient and polite.

Great place to stay

Easy to get to from the airport[you can walk]. Rooms are very comfortable. Also restaurants on the premises.

If you need a place to stay while you lay over at the airport, this place is top notch and reasonable.

Perfect for a next-day flight, but have nice clothes for dining.

Hotel staff is both friendly and professional--a welcome relief for travel-weary people. The hotel room was impeccably clean with luxurious linens and sumptuous towels. After traveling for several weeks in lovely bed & breakfasts along the coast of Ireland, this was definitely an upscale treat. I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends, family, and anyone needing accommodations during a layover at Gatwick. The meals, however, are pricey. Some of the restaurants strongly suggest "nice" dress in order to be respectful of other diners. We gladly would have paid the price for the meals; however, we had just finished slogging our way through two weeks ruins and coastline in Ireland. We did NOT bring nice clothing.

Useful for early morning flights

Very comfortable hotel with plenty of places to eat in hotel so can avoid the airport. Best thing used to be that had a direct walk through to check in at Gatwick so could check in and then go back and get breakfast but currently work is going on adjoining tunnel so have to use carpark elevators to outside crossover busy taxi lanes, drag luggage thru narrow walkways annd then take escalators/ elevators top check in floor - certainly not the luxury it was before - AND IT ASHOULD BE NOTED AS SUCH FOR OLDER PATRONS AND THOSE WITH LOTS OF LUGGAGE.

Clean, modern hotel conveniently located at Gatwick Airport with easy access to trains and buses. I would stay there again!

This hotel is walking distance from the North Terminal. It is new and very clean. It is a little pricey but wirth every pennie.

Excellent Gatwick Hotel

If travelling through Gatwick with either a late arrival or early departure the Sofitel is the hotel you want. It is a little pricey but well worth the added convienance regardless of which terminal you are travelling through. Staff is excellent and the services were all what you would expect. As an expat working in the UK we travel often and have a 18 month old. Gatwick is a central hub for many flights and the convienance and service offered by a hotel at the terminal can’t be over stated.

After staying in hotels in London I would recommend the Sofitel as a base and take the train to sightsee London.

Nice location within easy walking distance of the North Terminal at Gatwick airport. Good location if you need to do business South of London.

Great airport hotel

This is a great hotel to relax before (or after) a long flight. We were able to check out and walk to our terminal within minutes. The rooms and facilities are very nice and comfortable. The only issue I have is that the hotel tried to charge me for using their wi-fi network (which I didn’t). They took the charge off the bill after I complained.

Easy Access

This hotel was very easy to get to after international arrival at the North Terminal. I met my girlfriend here and the hotel was very nice compared to most 4 stars in America. Although it was connected to a very busy airport, this hotel gave me the feeling of a very rich atomosphere. I mean higher end. I did not eat or try to food, due to I had no money to spend. I was able to get easy access to the South Terminal at Gatwick also!. I would recommend this to people who don’t want the hassle of leaving the Gatwick Airport!

Gatwick Sofitel Great with Caveat

This is the best of the Gatwick hotels and often with a better price. However - they charge 20 pounds for Internet service. Even in their lobby, this charge applies. You can get free WiFi in Gatwick itself. If this hotel followed the example of the rest of the hotel world with free Internet, it would be brilliant.

Clean with a great location and reasonably priced. Friendly reception, knowledgable concierge, good selection of various eateries for different budgets and occasions. All around good hotel which I’ve returned to and would recommend.

Very nice hotel

This was a great hotel. We were inconvienced by American Airlines changing our flights from Gatwick to Heathrow, so the Sofitel upgraded our room for the night. It was a very nice room and was very large compared to our other experiences in London. I would recommend this hotel for anyone flying out of Gatwick Airport or staying in the vacinity of Gatwick.
