A clean and comfy room in central location
Room: Bright and clean. Comfy mattress and pillows. White and spotless towels and pajamas provided. Facilities: The toilets and shower rooms were shared among other guests in the 10 hotel rooms but we never had to wait when we needed to use them. A lady cleaned them very frequently and the garbage bins were always empty. Building: The only shortcoming of the hotel is no lift. The 4 flights of stairs can kill especially after wandered a whole day in the Red Square and Museums. Services: Excellent. There was someone in the reception 24 hours. The reception allowed us to check-in to our room when we arrived at 8am. We were also allowed to take a shower before we get on an overnight train at mid-night. We were very grateful for this. Location: Excellent for tourist. The Red Square is just 10 min away on foot. The place around the hotel let us feel safe that we can even walk to Red Square for the stunning view during mid-night. Overall, I am very satisfy with my stay in the Petrovka Loft.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Visit the Red Square at night when the lights were on. The view was stunning and very differet from the daytime scene. Its safe to walk there from the Petrovka Loft.

Barebones but great location
My mother and I just returned from a trip to Moscow, where we stayed at the Loft. We knew it was a walk-up in an apartment building, and wouldnt be deluxe accomodations. That being said, we were disappointed with our room - no windows, and very small and cramped. It felt like we were on an airplane. The staff was nice, but not helpful with train tickets, locting points of interest, and general inquiries. The location is what is the #1 benefit - if you sacrifice comfort, this hotels distance - 10 minute walk from Red Square - is a huge perk.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
When I returned to NYC from my trip to Russia, a Russian woman told me train tickets from Moscow to St. Petersburg can be bought at the station from a train attendant for $50. Have a Russian guide/ local go with you to the station to negotiate getting these tickets, and youll save a ton of money!
