Enchanting!
Expedia started off on the right foot....the agent on the phone at time of booking indicated this Guest House was the only one available for the accomodations we were looking for....they spoke affiramatively about the Inn. We arrived wided eyed....traveling with teenagers, I was concerned it may be a bit quaint and quiet..they loved the story book setting, the family-like atmosphere...they greeted us with a smile and open arms. We inquired with the Taxi driver if we needed a lift down to the Lake, he graciously suggested we stroll down that he needn’t rob us of more pounds! Wow, such sweetness..the people were amazing. The locations of this Inn was perfect, everything at your finger tips. The Eng. bkfst. was fabulous! Can’t wait to return

Lonsdale’s Andrew and other BESTs
We’ve never been met with a more sincere, pleasant welcome than what awaited us this June at our hotel in Windermere. If we were to choose ONE hotel experience to duplicate, it would definitely be our recent visit at the Lonsdale. The house/hotel is lovely in every detail. We were delighted to find the registration area right next to their charming bar and sitting room downstairs. And to top it off, you must meet Andrew - one of the kindest, happiest people we’ve had the good fortune to encounter at home or abroad.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
If you love beautiful scenery, tour around in your car. We fell in love with Ambleside and the pub there. Try Barngates Brewery’s Chesters Strong and Ugly ale while you’re sitting at one of the many picnic tables across the street which allows you to gaze upon pastoral splendor. Ahhh...makes me want to go there again sometime!

Excellent small friendly hotel
Tremendous customer service. The owner takes pride in his business and made our vacation stay a memorable one. The breakfast is excellent.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
I am not a fan of heights and my son convinced me to "go ape" with him. I am still not a fan of heights but can say it was fun and thrilling. "Go Ape" is fun and scary and the zip line at 75 feet in the air was a great ride. Enjoy. Screaming allowed, since you are in the forest, no one can hear.
