comfortable with everything i could have wanted

Everything was fine. I enjoyed my room service dinner. They were extremely accomodating and provided excellent and friendly service. Late check out for no additional charge was a bonus. I would stay here again.

Great Hotel in Providence!

Came up from NYC for an event at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA and stayed at the Providence Marriott Downtown for the night. The hotel was an ideal location for us as it was right off the I-95, which we took to head north to Foxboro. It had plenty of parking (free). The staff were great and the room was very nice. Hotel has a nice pool (which we didnt use since we had to leave for Foxboro after a few hours). Will stay here again whenever in the area. Highly recommended.

Traveler's tip on dining

The "Little Italy" section of Providence had some great restaurants.

Very pleased

The Hotel was newly renovated. The indoor outdoor pool area was very nice, it had a outdoor Bar/Restaurant, fire pits and comfortable seating. Nice Restaurant area in the lobby and a Starbucks coffee. Very short distance to the mall and downtown area.

Great Place to stay

This was a great place for my husband and I to stay while visiting family. It is in a very central location and close to everything. The staff was super friendly and very helpful throughout our stay.

Stuck in the Basement

I was stuck in the basement of this hotel. My view consisted of the parking lot and a gas station. I had to weave my way through a maze of housekeeping carts every night as I seemed to be in the staging area for the housekeepers... There was no offer to reduce my rates for this inconvenience.

Okay, but you have to pay for internet!

The Marriott is conveniently located to downtown. Lot’s of parking and great staff. I only had two issues - you have to pay $10 for internet and only entrance is through main entrance. My room was as far away from the main entrance as I could get but still had to park near the main entrance and enter and exit there instead of the door right near my room. Room was small but adequate.

The hotel was great. My only complaint was the restaurant for brunch was a little pricey. Otherwise great stay!

Nice hotel

The hotel was very nice. Breakfast in the lobby bar area was very nice, but a bit pricey. Business center was convenient with free fax, printing, and copying service.

Good Time

We had a very nice time. We had checked in early to enjoy the pool. The pool area was clean and the pool was a very comfortable temperature.

Traveler's tip

I thought it was great that the hotel provided free transportation to local areas for it guests. It saves on having to find parking in a busy downtown area.

This perfume infused Hotel made the stay Unsatisfactory

I did not enjoy my stay at this hotel because it’s ventilation system pumps a perfume of some sort throughout the hotel. The staff was pleasant, but the hotel chain didn’t even acknowledge my feedback/complaint. After my stay, I called Marriott Hotels to give feedback and they insted that ONLY the lobby was scented. I WOULD NOT have stayed at this hotel if I knew about the deliberate use of the scent. They should tell prospective guests.

Traveler's tip

Stay away.

Careless front desk clerk

There wasn’t a king bed available at check-in which I totally understand. I asked if there would be one the next day and if we could move. The clerk said yes. But the following day when we went to the front desk we were told that there was no notation made by the check-in clerk. We were moved but supposedly because the new clerk took my word for it. Also, we provided a credit card for incidentals (to the same clerk that checked us in.) Later that night we asked to have drinks from the bar billed to the room and the bartendar tells us that we did not have a card on file. He couldn’t get anyone at the front desk to confirm so we just paid the bill. Neither issue is a big deal. However, I stay at Marriott’s often and the service is usually very good. The above is not up to par and the result is unnecessary waste of my time.

A comfortable room

The room was clean and comfortable but the airconditioner was very noisey every time it came on and the tub was extremely slow to drain. Over all it was a nice stay.

Better than anticipated

I have been visiting different hotels and locations around Providence as my son is attending college there. I would gladly return to this Marriott. There was only one minor problem and that was the bathroom door hinge had a couple loose screws so it wouldn’t close, big deal, a quick turn with the screwdriver and all set. The employees of this hotel are so nice and friendly always making sure you are all set with whatever your request was. Aqua bar poolside fun,ask the bartender to flair for you. Hotel parking was complimentary a change from some other places. I was impressed with the pet friendly policy I wasn’t aware of that prior to my visit.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The Mall is an easy walk to and from this hotel, with lit streets and pedestrian crosswalks. I think the whole Waterfire experience is a bit overated, but interesting for 5 minutes.

Great place to stay in Providence!

Nicely decorated, great pool and Jacuzzi. Very polite and frendly staff. The beds are SUPER, with lots of pillows. This is a great hotel for the price, with an excellent breakfast buffet. Highly reccommended. You won’t find a better value.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Trolly for waterfire visits.

We had a great Girlfriends’ Getaway

I chose this hotel based on pictures, especially the indoor/outdoor pool, and its proximity to I95, and we were not disappointed. Each room had two very comfortable and nicely appointed double beds which we chose over the single king-size bed option that was also available. The indoor-outdoor pool was great. During the day (Saturday) it was pretty crowded with families, but we used it for a delightful after-dinner relaxation time and loved it. The pool is open from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday morning was also a lovely time to relax in the sun in the outdoor chaises. We enjoyed our breakfast at the hotel, two of us sharing an order of eggs benedict while the other two opted for the hot and cold breakfast buffets, two different buffet menus are available. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the concierge gave us some great tips for dinner. We chose an easy few blocks walk into the city center and used the hotel’s free shuttle service to return a few hours later. All four of us would highly recommend this hotel. We had a great weekend! The only thing we missed was an in-room fridge.

Traveler's tip on dining

We were headed for one restaurant when we saw the Napa Valley Grille, and opted for it since I have really enjoyed dining at the original in Napa, CA. We were not disappointed! Our dinner, the atmosphere, and the service were excellent. We were there for three hours and enjoyed every minute of it! We also had a delicious lunch at 3 Steeple Street, (the name of the restaurant, not its location.

Great Pool and Restaurant

The hotel is undergoing upgrades to rooms, so there are some areas that are not up to Marriott standards...but: My room was very good. The staff was great. The pool is excellent (indoor and outdoor) with very good food and beverage services and great lighting at night. The restaurant had excellent service and food. I would consider going here again just for a one night "chill out" vacation.

Excellent with a caveat

We found the rooms and amenities of the hotel impeccable. However, we had quite a bit of trouble obtaining necessary amenities we requested in advance. Months before arriving (and before I booked) I doubled checked with a manager to be sure that they had infant beds (cribs) and refrigerators available upon request (as it says on the website); they assured me they were and that they would be happy to provide said items. When we arrived (around 1:00 pm) they confirmed the crib and refrigerator when I checked in (I see here you requested...) and I heard the receptionist call and request them delivered to our room. Neither the crib nor the refrigerator was there when we returned at 3pm. Nor at 6pm. We made several trips to the front desk. At 10pm we finally got the crib (which is OH so convenient when one has a six week old infant - they only sleep at night after all -- this is sarcasm for those who have never had an infant!) but there was no refrigerator available, all were in use and needed for patrons with needs "more important" than our needs. They suggested bringing our perishables (breast milk) to the front desk. A) This information would have been much more helpful at 1pm, at the very least the offer of storing our perishables at the front desk B) did they really want the nanny to bring a hungry (crying) infant through the halls of the hotel from the third floor all the way down to the lobby at 330 am (and again at 5am, and again...)?

Below expectation!

I selected this hotel based on the traveler’s reviews, but I must say it turn out to be a terrible disappointment. The hotel is old and visible wear and tear. The service was only half decent and the dinner food in the hotel was just terrible. Bathroom is old and dated. I would expect a hotel of this price would be cleaner.

Great Pool!

We ended up hanging out at the pool all night because the water temperature was perfect and it was clean. I also recommend their brunch!

Impressive

The Providence Marriott is a beaautiful hotel, with a wonderful aquatic center. You can just while away time in the pool! The amenities of the hotel are top class, and the hotel service is also good. Everyone has a smile on their face and are very polite. But that’s where it stops. They don’t go out of their way to make you feel wanted and comfortable. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels and cheaper ones too which have been most helpful. I asked the receptionist for an advil and she couldn’t help me. There were a few other small, trivial requests and she just asked me to buy them either from the CVS or from the gift shop which doubled the price. On the whole, a good experience!

Traveler's tip on dining

Try the best pizza in Massachusetts at Antonio’s on Thayer Street! Highly recommend the Avocado Feta Black bean pizza.
