No attention to your needs
Water leak was never fixed, plumber left his tools in room, i had to deliver them. A/C old and is not working. Constant music outside of the room, even at night. When complained - just sorry and no incentives offered to me to return back, just stoned face, like "just go away now, we done with you"....
Always check everything in your room before excepting it, otherwise youll stuck with bad room.

Local Girl Recommendation
I grew up 4 blocks from where this hotel now sits. I have always wanted to stay at the Queen Kapiolani as my sister in laws always stay there when they visit from SC. I live on another island and wanted someplace I was familiar with. Everything was familiar, centrally located etc., if I was on vacation. However, because I was constantly on the go with my 101 mom in hospital I was mostly there to crash. The bathroom facilities (tub drain clogged) and water poured out into the tub....but a trickle into the shower and toilet handle fell on floor, but considering the good price I just pretended I was on a deserted island.....because everything else was excellent. Also, I was not too thrilled with their 15.00 a night parking fee nor their one ice machine near the Lobby. When youre tired even that seems like a traumatic event.. So, I never got ice since I was on the 10th floor. But all in all.......I would recommend this hotel to another just because of the location and ambience and friendliness of hotel staff. The bathroom problems, Im sure, will soon be resolved with restorative processes and if I had been there with my husband and for a different reason it would not have made that much difference.
Nightlife abounds as this hotel is almost on Kalakaua Ave which is the main Waikiki street with the infamous Waikiki Beach right there. The Zoo, Aquarium, Tennis Courts are across the street or close to across the street, and there are many restaurants (too many to mention) in the vicinity. Count on paying the 15.00 charge for parking per day or you will be feeding the meter every hour on the hour in the zoo parking lot. This hotel faces Diamond Head and close to the base of Diamond Head. For those on vacation this hotel is centrally located and quite reasonable. Tour events are displayed in the Lobby (to Pearl Harbor Memorial etc.) but I did not take advantage of this because I have live there for 64 years and have enjoyed all of that already. I am sure, the bus line runs through Kalakaua ave and beyond, and tour buses are available if a rental car is not in the agenda.
