Hotel Okay

The hotel was fine, but not what I was expecting. The ’continental breakfast’ was very minimal which was a bummer for our stay because I had a lot of hungry mouths to feed and the breakfast was so small that I will probably not take my group back here again. The rooms were good and I appreciated the managers willingness to work with me in finding an affordable rate for my large group.

The staff was amazing!

This trip was to spend final days with my mother in law before she passed. I booked this hotel because of the price only. What I got was an entire staff who went out of their way to show true care and compassion for my family. They worked around how long stays at the hospital to clean rooms and asked daily how we were doing. The hotel was clean, comfortable, great location, and I would stay there again. It was well worth spending $100.00 less than the hotel across the street, to have the honor of being part of real people at that time in our lives. Thank you.

Customer Service- not so good

when I booked on-line I asked for a rollaway. When I got to the hotel I asked about the rollaway and was assured it would be set up. Evening came,no rollaway. When I went to the front desk there was only the clerk there she said no one would be available to set it up. I got my way, the clerk did the set up. When I checked out the next day,the clerk said they would not charge me for the rollaway, yet they did. Breakfast sucked too, no room to sit and eat and food was bad. Could have found a better place for the same cost.

Poor property

The hotel is billed as a non-smoking facility. I believe that they enforce that, yet our room smelled of stale cigarette smoke. So at one time, the room was smoked in. The hallways were not air conditioned, so it was hot and sticky in the hallways. The breakfast was minimal. The staff and housekeepers were very nice and very professional. They can’t help that the hotel has not been upgraded or kept up.

Decent for the $’s

Clean, quiet, decent furnishings, and extras (refrig, coffee pot, blow drier). Had some trouble w/TV.All in all, decent for the $’s.

Stay at the Days Inn across the street

This hotel still has metal keys! That should tell you how old and out of date it is. The service wasn’t bad, but I am still mystified about the $1 "tourism fee" I was charged the morning after our stay. They wouldn’t let my husband simply drop off the key to check out. I had to come in and approve this charge the hotel across the street (we switched to that one for our stay on our way back from Canada) did not charge. The place also felt dirty. They had a nasty yellow non-slip mat stuck in the tub and I felt like things were crawling on me all night. Needless to say, this didn’t make for a good night’s sleep. Which is the whole point in staying in a hotel. I was much happier paying a few bucks more to stay at the Days Inn.

good value

This was a good value for a stay in Helena. Pool area is very nice and the kids enjoyed their time there. The hotel is older but well kept. The breakfast is very basic although adequate. There is no eating area so you must return to your room to eat it, not a problem for us. We will stay there again.

Meh...

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Shilo Inn a couple of weeks ago and, while our experience in the room was decent, the overall vibe of the establishment could best be compared to a youth hostel in Western Europe that’s just...WET all the time. The walls were thin, the other guests noisy (it was Valentine’s Day weekend), and the concierge was rude both on the phone and in person. Maybe it was just an off-week?

Terrible bed making

They were so cheap that they used standard double bed sheets on a queen bed. They didn’t go clear to the foot of the bed and had almost nothing tucked in on the sides. So half way thru the night, the bottom sheet was up above my knees. When I mentioned this to the desk clerk, her comment was that was all they could get????? The sink drain was also plugged and it definatelly needed some maintenance.

Very nice hotel

The rooms were clean and good sized. The hotel is staffed by nice, helpful people. It has a great location in Helena. I would stay there again.

Ok, for price

Older hotel but it was acceptable for price. Beds not all the comfortable, steam room and sauna nice.

Avery relaxing stay

The staff was very nice and accomidating. It was a very quiet and relaxing stay. The location was good for everywhere we were going to visit. The accomidations were not luxurious to say the least, but they were very pleasant for us. We would definitely stay there again.

Not impressed

TV did not work, had to request twice to get a receipt. Room not to clean.

great for the price

We just needed a place for a quick overnight at both ends of our week-long trip. We didn’t need extras like room service, a pool, or a big breakfast spread. We just needed beds close to the airport - Shilo fit the bill. Sure the carpet was a little shabby in places and there is no elevator to help get heavy suitcases upstairs (we were on the top floor both times). But the rooms were clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Will not return

The room we were given was tiny (about half the size of a normal hotel room.) It was right next to the pool, rather noisy, and smelled musty when we arrived. The bathroom had not been cleaned, as was evident by the urine still in the toilet. We did not have a pet along, but this hotel does allow them, and we were disturbed to find fleas throughout our room. Obviously, we asked to be reassigned to a new room. We were told they had no vacancies left and that no refund could be given because we booked through Expedia. They were not able to remedy the situation until the next day, when they did find us another suitable room.

Returned to Shilo

Stayed at Shilo Inn Helena while attending a wedding Sept. 2006. Due to cost and location we made a return stay in June 2007. Very satisfied and will go back again if the need arises.

Traveler's tip

What can we say? The hotel is located near shopping, local attractions, has great rates, well maintained and furnished rooms, and a good continental breakfast.

Not great.

The hotel furnishings are okay, but the structure is dingy. The pool/hot tub are miniscule, the hallways too dark, the cont. breakfast is stashed in a corner with toast, donuts and cereal you’re to put on a tray and eat in your room. If I were to return to Helena, I’d probably try someplace else.

If you’re in a wheel chair, you will not be able to access the hotel pool. You have to go down a full flight of stairs to access this hotel. Staff was very friendly.

Like coffee and begals? Look up "The Begal Co." They are so deleicious;)and only about 5 minutes away. For dinner, "Overland Express" just a short walk away, amazing authentic western restraunt.

Very good place for the price!

Desk clerk was very nice; my tv didn’t work properly so she immediately transferred me to another room. Everything was clean. Kids loved the pool. I had a room facing North so it was quiet! Breakfast was great with a large variety of things. Wireless internet worked flawlessly. A great deal for the money, I’d say, and I will probably stay here, again!
