Excellent Choice in Salamanca
The hotel was great... room was modern, clean and beautiful, and the staff was very nice. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the Plaza Mayor and everything downtown (but be prepared to climb a significant hill on your walk back to the hotel). I booked early, and the deal through Expedia was quite good. I’d stay there again in a heartbeat! Their parking garage was typical of garages in Europe: small spaces and impossibly tight turns. If you rent a car, be sure it’s a small one. --Oh, and If you rent a car, take or rent a good GPS unit. Mine was a lifesaver.
Traveler's tip on dining
There’s a great little Chocolate Shop a couple of blocks down the hill toward the Plaza Mayor. Go there in the morning for awesome hot chocolate and churros! Save money at restaurants downtown and go with the "menu of the day." Ask for it in English... most have one, or will translate gladly.
