Poor security
One of the very first things I noticed upon inspecting the room was that neither of my room’s side of the double-doors leading to the rooms on either side would latch. Basically, the doors were so off-kilter that bolt mechanism from the knob couldn’t seat in the latch hole. I was in a rush when I checked in so I couldn’t change rooms, which I’ll take as my own fault, but even the briefest inspection would have revealed this to any hotel staff member, so I feel the room shouldn’t even have been rented. And I wanted to say something on the way out, but the desk clerk was busy on the phone and I was also in a rush to leave.

Hotel in Disrepair
The hotel was clean and the staff seemed nice, but the building and furnishings are really old. The mattresses were extremely old and hard, the hot tub didn’t work, and the only working ice machine was on the second floor. The location is good, within 1 mile of several restaurants and gas stations, and only minutes from Iowa Speedway, but I would recommend staying somewhere else if you can. The only way we will stay there again is if we have race tickets and all of the other hotels are booked.

The Newton Inn Hotel in Newton, IA
Not impressed with hotel, it was in need of remodeling. The service was good however!
