Red River Rivalry Weekend
Westin City Center is ideally located for the State Fair and the Cotton Bowl. The Red River Rivalry weekend is a high energy weekend that brings close to 100,000 people to downtown Dallas many of which are students. It is a very trying time for any hotel. Our experience with the Westin was perfect. Checkin was a breeze from the moment we arrived. From the entrance drive to the room we were serviced by calm and pleasant employees. Everything was well organized and relaxed. The room was very comfortable and an oasis from the crowd. Room service was very quick and the food hot and fresh on arrival. Breakfast buffet was again well managed and comfortable even with the unusual crowd. The Dart terminal and a shuttle service is right outside the hotel (although the train service was a disaster but not the hotels fault). Overall a very nice hotel with a well managed staff that dealt with the special weekend great.
While in Dallas see the Museum at the Book Respository. It is an amazing multimedia history of the Kennedy era. I was in awe of the whole experience. Dallas also has some great art museums. The State Fair and the Texas-OU Red River Rivalry is unique experience, although the State Fair is probably better experienced on another weekend if you arent attending the football game. The crowd can overwhelm the fairgrounds. Dallas seems like mostly a commuter city but it really has some nice things to experience in the downtown area.

Horrible customer service
We flew in specifically from LA for the Dallas Cowboys game. Upon receiving wrong information from the concierge, we hired a car since they said they were not offering the shuttle service to the stadium. Check in was non-eventful but upon discovering there were no robes in the room we called down. Nora was extremely rude. When I asked when we could expect the robes she said "I dont know" and hung up on me. I would not recommend this hotel due to the staff.
