Nice hotel
The Good Nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms with balconies are great, with a great view. It`s right on the beach, and the swimming pool, garden area, and pool bar are great. The Bad The bathroom didn`t have a fan which was strange, and the bath could have been cleaner. Also the cushion on the bed smelled bad and wasn`t clean, but you can just throw it off so not that big a deal really.
Traveler's tip on dining
Be careful when buying seafood in restaurants. Sometimes the advertised price is only for 100 grams, and they will serve you 500 grams which can send your bill a little higher than you would have anticipated!

I find out the hotel managment and service been great as i have been told by freind ,whom was staying in this resort almost 22 years a go.
it a great pleace for family to stay in regards of comfort,general service,facility around and ect.

Holiday Inn Resort Penang (4th - 7th Jan)
The location of the hotel in Ferringhi beach is great. I could walk easily on the beach just behind the hotel (really nice), or along the road to the night markets. The staff were quite friendly. However, the room service (in-room dining) was poor - the food was cold always, and uninspring. The rooms are getting a bit old, and I had mosquitos and tiny insects (they were roaches, I think - but not sure). The room service staff had to use insecticide spray a couple of times. The best part of this hotel is the location, as well as the friendly staff.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
I travelled solo, and although that can be difficult, I did manage to have a good time in Penang. I hired a taxi to take me around (8 hours, at about 25Ringgit/hour. I visited a batik place, the tropical fruit farm, the butterfly place, the temple with the reclining buddha etc. during my first day (8 hours in all). Then I took my time to visit Georgetown, and went about Georgetown area in a trishaw - nice. I did a spot of shopping in the malls.
