The hotel staff were very friendly and check in was very smooth. The location was the main reason for us choosing this hotel.

Not as good this year
Maybe it has to do with the recession, but I’ve been going to Royal Plaza for the past several years and this time around I noticed that it wasn’t as good an experience. I did check in very late at about 1:30AM after a very long flight, but there was no one there--no one at the door, no one at the front desk, I mean nobody! I waited for several minutes until finally a front desk person came from the back to help me. This shouldn’t happen at a business hotel right off of Orchard Road! The breakfast buffet, which is usually outstanding, was mediocre at best with many hot items cold. My room lacked a robe and they gave me two doubles instead of the king bed that I had originally reserved. I’d give it another chance, but I’d hate to see it go downhill because the location is perfect and price is good.

Highly Recommend
We asked to check in early at 0800 as our flight arrived at 0700 and we didn’t want to have to wait a long time before we could check in. When we arrived, we were told our room was ready and waiting for us. We have stayed there before and always found it to be great hotel and the Royal Plaza on Scotts Road maintained this level of service. The reception desk, concierge desk, and hotel staff were all very courteous and willing to help. Our luggage arrived at our room in very short order and showed us the features of our room and the services we had at our disposal. They helped us find some areas of interest in Singapore and set up transportation. We were very pleased with this hotel and are planning on staying there again when we go back to that part of the world next year.
