Better last time than this most recent trip

We stayed here twice in the past 6 months--2 rooms each time for 7 days each trip, so we have a good understanding of the hotel. This past trip we were disappointed by a run-aropund related to the TVs--they were out of order for 3 or 4 days before they were finally fixed. The front desk was not particularly helpful and didn’t seem to put too much push into fixing them or satisfiying this customer. Admittedly no one goes to Paris to watch TV but after a long day it would be good to know that we could catch up on global news. This is a 3 star hotel and I more or less expect to be able to watch TVwithout having to snarl at the front desk staff repeatedly. Many other things are fine with the hotel--notably location--but the staff disappointed us this past visit. Don’t miss the nearby Monoprix! Beats their breakfast!

Nice location once you find it

This worked very well as a home base for a week long stay seeing Paris by Metro and by foot. It is next door to the Medieval Museum (Cluny). I would have loved to have ice available. I did love leaning out the window to look up and down the streets.

Traveler's tip

The only problem was in finding the hotel the first time. Ask for "la Tour Notre Dame" or for Best Western and get directed elsewhere. It is next door to the Cluny Museum, ask for that. To save a bit, get water bottles and snacks downstairs at Monoprix department store.

Bad managment for a good hotel

Location was great? we stayed here because our usual hotel Luxemborg was under construction. Two of the staff [long gentelman on night shift and curtious girl on am shift] were nice the rest look like they had guests over for visits all the time. We had breakfast included but not worth the money we paid for it. The room location we were given was excellent and the view the best ever and ok kept but the TV quality was real bad even though we didnt come to watch TV though you think there would be an effort to fix it and get the volume over whisper level. Overall? we wouldnt return to the hotel because of managment [not the employees, they are hard working] but we would come back for location and get room only.... lots of good places to eat down the block on St. Germain. Blvd.

Traveler's tip

Get the metro best way to get around for your buck. If it is your first visit then take the cruise at point Neuf, once in the AM and then in the dark... nice views specially of the tour eiffel. Nice and reasonable priced restaurants down the block. Bikes right in front of the hotel if you like to ride around town. Bon Chance !!

Great Location

Fantastic location close to restaurants, parks, Notre Dame, Louvre. Rooms are small, but that is average for downtown Paris.

Would stay there again

La Tour Notre Dame...what more do I need to say! Its location was excellent -- for walking to some tourist sites and close by Metro stops for getting to others (certainly a great way to get around Paris). The staff was very helpful and friendly. I think my only disappointment was the fact that the breakfast was not included and it was a bit of a task to get a pot of coffee in your room. But I would certainly stay there again. Without hesitation!

Great place to stay in Paris

Cute and cozy Hotel. Located in Latin Quartier and close to Louver, Notre Dame, etc. You can take a great advantage of using subways (metro) to get everywhere!!! RECOMENDED!!!

Can’t wait to go back

We were there in August, November and december. We stayed there all three times. 3 days in Aug, 7 days in Novemeber and 1 day in December when we passed thru Paris. Its close to all resturants, try the Greek seafood dishes. The staffs are really nice, always find time to speak to you and cater to your needs. Wifi available. Some rooms are bigger than others. You have to ask. We will difinitely stay there again.

Great hotel - great location

This was my first time in Paris and I could not have asked for a more convenient and comfortable hotel. The location was perfect for us. Restaurants and cafes surround the hotel which is in the Latin Quarter next door to the Cluny. Stayed for 8 nights. Room was small but comfortable and very clean with new furniture and TV. Nice size bathroom w/full tub which is not so common in Europe. Staff was great. Very accomodating and friendly after our overnight flight. If you enjoy walking you can basically forget the metro. We walked almost everywhere - my favorite way to see a new city. If you’re not up to that... the metro is literally around the corner-including the B train we took to CDG and C line to Versailles. Would definitely return... hopefully soon.

Great option on the left bank

The location of the hotel was perfect! It is about a two minute walk to the river and Notre Dame, and about a 30 second walk from the Boul Miche/ St. Germain interseaction. There are great restaurants and shops within steps of the hotel. Our room was very clean and comfortable. It was small by American standards, but very typical for Parisian hotels. We stayed six nights and could not have been more pleased with our room and the staff at the front desk, who were very polite and helpful. However, we did have one problem with one of the staff, who called a "taxi" for us on the morning of our departure. A man with an unmarked minivan showed up instead of the taxi we were expecting. The driver and the front desk worker seemed to know each other, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he recieved some type of comission. Because we had to catch a plane, we agreed to have him drive us. We payed 15 more euro than we should have to ride in someone’s dirty van. I would suggest calling a taxi for yourself or booking it in the middle of the day (not with the night doorman!). Insist on a real taxi, or better yet use a shuttle service. Other than that incident I could not reccomend this hotel enough.

Traveler's tip on dining

Don’t limit yourself to the restaurants between the hotel and the river. They are a bit overpriced for what you get as they are geared towards tourists. However, these would be a good option if you speak no French because all of the menus are in English and most of the staff speaks English... but don’t be shy about trying other places! We found really great (and less expensive) places to eat and drink around the Sorbonne. Give these a try and you won’t be disappointed!

Great Hotel, Excellent Location

As usual, Paris hotel rooms are small, so get over it. Room was clean and safe, bed was comfortable, breakfast was wonderful, location excellent, near restaurants and cafes, and metro stops - and some small grocery stores. Can’t beat the value at this hotel. If you stay at more expensive places, you’re cheating yourself out of other small pleasures merely for a little more space in a room you should only be sleeping in anyway, get out in Paris!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Right around the corner, on St. Germain Blvd., excellent cheese shop and bakery, check them out!

Great location.

Excellent location, extremely friendly staff. Bathroom was nice, bed was very comfortable, room was very clean. Small grocery store was right across the street. Metro was right around the corner. Definitely will stay here again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The museum pass was worth the money.

Small hotel that does not care about customer

I do not recommend this hotel... small room .. could barely fit in the door with my luggage.. bathroom so small hard to shower... but most of all felt the front desk staff only looking out for their own pocket book... ALL of them tried to get me to book a taxi with them when I finally agreed upon my departure - they tried to charge me 36Euros to go to Gare de Nord which is 10 minutes away... it only cost me 24 Euros to get from the Orly airport to the hotel... obviously they are pocketing money from the taxi service they use...they denied it when I called them on it... do not appreciate being taken advantage of by the hotel staff ... I do not mind paying for service ... but I will not pay to be ripped off.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

good location for walking to nightlife of St. Germain and to Notre Dame and even to Marais...but not worth it for THIS hotel... find another one in the area.

Great Location, Great Service!

Stayed here for 3 nights in early July 2008. Loved this place for muliple reasons: - Air conditioning!! (Often hard to find in Paris hotels, and much needed in July.) - Great location - Minutes walk from Latin Quarter, with tons of great restaurants, creperies and cafes - Minutes walk from St. Michel RER (can access Charles De Gaulle airport directly via RER Line B, so no messing around with switching trains, etc.) - Extremely clean, excellent shower (no problems with low pressure or cold water) - Beds were very comfortable - Very quiet room, thanks to heavy-duty windows. We were overlooking the road, but with the windows shut, you couldn’t hear a thing. Here’s where the A/C came in handy! Stay here... it’s a great find in the Latin Quarter!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The Paris metro system is just OK... you will likely have to use it, but not worth an entire day pass. Instead, buy a "Carte", which is 10 tickets which can be shared and are available for use any day / time. Much cheaper than single trips or day-tickets.

very satisfied - great value

Like the rest of the 3 star hotels the rooms are typically small. They are however imaculately clean, with comfotable beds and very clean bathrooms. The hotel staff was friendly and always helpful. The hotel is in a great location, in the heart of the Latin Quarter and within walking distance of man of the best spots in Paris. Pleny of small restuarants, brasseries and bakeries near by. In summary a good value for yoiur money hotel. You shouldn’t be disappointed unless you are in need of a very large room.

Traveler's tip on dining

Try and not eat in the very touristy area across from Notre Dame. There are far better places for not much more money throughout Paris. Try the Odeon region for the best value.

Small, but perfect

Excellent location and friendly helpful staff. The room was small (typically European), but incredibly comfortable and cozy. We could see the Pantheon from the window and could walk to Notre Dame.

A little cramped for room bur great location

Small elevator, only fits two people with luggage, the bar is a joke, no bar just bottles in a case if you want to buy. Other than that it’s a great place to stay, close to Notre Dame and tour bus. If you need a cab you better get one real early because the traffic is really bad, take a train from airport to paris cost 138 euros from airport to paris, about $200 US, ouch!

Charming Hotel in Great Location

We stayed here the second week of September 2007 and had a great time. Hotel was super clean, the staff was very helpful, they had an internet kiosk (for charge) and you can’t beat the location. Less than 5 minutes from Notre Dame and Metro. Great central location that is accessible to all the sites. TONS of cute cafes, restaurants and bars very close. I would definitely stay here again.

tiny hotel room

The hotel is very well located, close to everything important and fun in Paris but the room is extremely small even for european standars. The hotel needs to invest in equipment as telephones, messages, television channels and wake up calls. I put a wake up call at 6:30 am, and nobody call, we almost missed our plane. The messages are written in a plain paper in the front desk, and everibody can read them, and you have to be very attentive in order not to miss yours. Front desk were attentive and cordial, but we coul not fit in the room as our baggage interfere with all our movements inside. The room and bathroom were extremely clean, and that saved the hotel for a complitely bad review. Please invest a little in equipment and you will have a 3 star hotel. now is a tiny star
