Definitely a budget hotel

I gave Quality Inn Downtown a neutral review because I went into it not expecting much. I knew from previous reviews that Quality Inn Downtown was a bit shabby. Sure enough, the bathroom ceiling was peeling and moldy as described in previous reviews. However, the room was serviceable and it was a decent budget hotel in downtown Montreal. The staff there was hit-or-miss. The woman who checked us in was very pleasant, and we later chatted with the nice woman who cleaned our room. We had one incident of poor service: we came in soaking wet from a thunderstorm and were looking forward to getting into our room. When we got to our floor, our key card didn’t work. My companion was steamed but I tried to take it with a grain of salt. We went back to the lobby to speak with the woman (a girl really) at the desk. She didn’t give us a satisfactory explanation - I am guessing from what she mumbled that the room keys automatically expire after two days even though we were registered for more than that. She was talking to another staff member while she fiddled with the key and her computer, then put the key back on the counter in front of me without any explanation. I had to ask her if the key was reactivated. I don’t know if this poor service was because she was young and clueless, but it was annoying nonetheless. In summary: be prepared for a budget hotel and inconsistent service.

Good Location

This hotel is a great location with reasonable pricing. Just basic - not fancy. Don’t expect service, ie you take your own bags to your room. Desk Service is very slow. The room key cards do not hold information. I made two trips from the 10th floor to get re-keyed. The hotel is right in the center of night life. It is a 10 minute walk to Mont Real,a five minute walk to the Art Museum - I saw the IMAGINE and NAPOLEON exhibits for free - a real treat, a 15 minute walk to McGill University with a great juice bar. Lots of great shopping nearby. Cabs are frequent, just don’t get one if the garbage truck is in front of your cab - you pay for the wait. My room was spacious.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Great cab service on the street. Get your own and avoid the long wait from having the desk call.

Great Location. Large Room, Facility Worn, Needs A Makeover

When on business in Montreal I stay here, 1 night only. It’s all about location. Walking distance to all restaurants, shops on Crescent and St. Catherines. Large rooms, but a makeover is in order. Although the rooms are worn out, I did not feel they were unclean. I suggest staying for 1 or 2 nights only. After a while the conditions could get old. Adjacent parking is convenient, costs $18, cash only- Carl from New Jersey

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Eat dinner at Churchills, on Crescent. Try the steak entry @ $17.00 equal to high priced steak houses. 2 for 1 Happy Hour starts at 5:00PM.

Noisy

This hotel is on a street with a lot of bars. I was woken up in the middle of the night by slamming doors and drunken yells. I didn’t let it get under my skin and I did have a great time in Montreal. I just wouldn’t recommend this hotel for people who aren’t big drinkers.

Traveler's tip on dining

if you like vegan food or want to try something different aux vivre on st. laurent is an amazing place. try the blt & chocolate banana pie. (all vegan)

Quality Inn Downtown

Overall the hotel was fine. Unfortunatly the air conditioner froze up at like 2 am when we came in on the last night. IT WAS HOT!!!!! If you want to stay in a tourist area it’s great, I prefer staying in DOWNTOWN Montreal but everything was booked.

Decent Hotel in the middle of Great Party Street

Went to Montreal for business and landed in a party street. Bars, pubs and restaurants up and down Rue Crescent. Close to Ste-Catherine, a main strip in downtown Montreal.

Perfect for college students!!

While the hotel wasn’t glamourous, its location on Cresent (a street FILLED with bars!) was great for my friends and I as college students. Also, it was very central to all that you’d want to site-see in Montreal. The room was comfortable and clean, fulfilling our basic needs.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Begin your visit on a weekend so that you’ll meet people who’ll know all the right things to do during the week. We liked the bars on Cresent for the weekend (Brutopia has live music!). Also, the Go-Go Lounge on St. Laurent (after Sherbrooke) is a really cool, eclectic bar. And whatever you do, DON’T GO to La Boom--it’s a really trashy club.

Very Nice

The rooms are large, beds comfortable and accommodating for our small dog. . Great selection of food for dine in as weel as many within walking distance.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

The hotel is very well located for the Belle Centre, only 5 mins walk. We were only there for 1 night to attend a hockey game and couldn’t ask for a better location.
