Perfect location

The hotel is situated in the heart of the shopping area and easy access to major sites. Opposite to the Padrea...I consider it to be user friendly and would recommend it to anyone, my stay there although short was perfect.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Walk with you electrical converter. Easy access to the internet, so bring your laptop $16.00 for 24 hours.

Did not get the room we paid for

I booked this hotel for my parents that are elder, I paid extra and book the Condal room which is suppose to have a queen bed AND a twin bed, however when they check in to the hotel they were told them they only had the option of a room with a queen bed OR twin beds. Beware if you are sending your elderly parents!!! they take advantage of them!!!!!

Would definitely stay here again!!

Really enjoyed our stay. We had a 2 bedroom suite which really suited our needs with kids. I found it very comfortable and a wonderful location. We enjoyed the Tapas bar that was next to the hotel. The food was awesome and prices very reasonable. Can’t wait to go back to Barcelona and stay at the Condes again!!

Only one problem, but a big one for me

Hotel was very modern in a great location and the staff did a good job of keeping it clean. The reason that I would not stay in this hotel again is that I found 2 roaches in the bathroom late at night. For me this is a deal breaker although I understand that this is a problem that can be difficult to remedy and other hotels may have the same problem. The staff was pretty great and helpful, the bed was very comfortable, and the room was nicely furnished.

New Condes better than old Condes

I was originally booked to stay in the "new" Condes de Barcelona for two weeks, however, this included Christmas week, which, apparently was slow for this hotel. The staff asked me if I would mind moving over to the old building because I was the only one staying in the new building (they wanted to close it). I agreed, but I was not entirely happy with the accomodations of the old building. If you stay at the Condes de Barcelona, be sure to request the *new* building. It was built to accomodate visitors during the 92(?) Olympics. It’s very modern and very nice! The Terrace Bar is great!

Traveler's tip on dining

Tipping is not required the way it is in the US. Gratuities are almost always included in the price of your meals. Everyone appreciates the tips and I tipped sometimes it the service was especially good! It’s a habit. :)

Very Good Location

Fairly recently renovated with modern design and furnishings which result in a comfortable albeit sterile and austere atmosphere in the room.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Very accessable by taxi to/from harbour and airport and close to major shopping and restaurants and historic venues.

Great location, excellent hotel

The location is ideal, on the "Park Avenue" of Barcelona, very close to major Metro lines as well as the famous Gaudi houses. I stayed in a Condal room, which was spacious and had a very large, fully equipped bathroom. I was completely satisfied.

Exceptional

We stayed for two nights and extremely enjoyed our stay. The staff spoke english and were all very helpful. We plugged in our Ipod alarm clock at 1 in the morning and blew the fuse. The staff were quick to help us out. The hotel is close to a lot of tourist attractions and public transportation. The rooftop bar has a view of the Sagrada Familia by Gaudi as it is only about 15 minutes away on foot. Just watch out for the continental breakfast, it was good but rather pricey. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location, but....

The hotel is located in two buildings, but the rooms are apparently the same. The older wing has a larger lobby, bar, etc. There is a considerable amount of street noise from traffic on the very busy Paseo de Gracia. The rooms are on the modern side in terms of appearance and fairly spartan.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If you buy something at the bar, they give you a few credits on the internet service which is, otherwise, quite expensive...but then so is the food/beverage at the bar...but the view is great!

MODERN AND CHIC HOTEL IN GREAT SHOPPING DISTRICT!!

We absolutely loved this hotel!! Its very modern and clean!! there is an awesome rooftop bar that has great views of barcelona. The hotel is in a great shopper district with plenty of restaurants. The hop on hop off bus is literally across the street and Gaudi’s Pededra and Casa Batillo is within close walking distance. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

Nice hotel with clean rooms but limited lobby space

We stayed here for a day following disembarkation from a cruise and flying out early the following morning. It is well situated with good service and nice rooms. The only problem we encountered was lack of lobby space for baggage and people as a large group was waiting to leave to join a cruise and another group like us waiting to get checked into a room.

Traveler's tip on dining

There are lots of good TAPAS bars nearby where you can be served quickly with a variety of food resembling hot and cold appetizers.

Great Location, nice place to stay

The Hotel Condes has a great location to jump on the Metro (either at Passieg de Gracia or at Diagonal station)and get quickly anywhere in the city. The room was large by European standards, and the beds were very comfortable. Service was efficient and polite, though not overly friendly. The hotel was very busy with business guests and conferences. The neighborhood is upscale and busy - great for walking and having a late dinner at the local tapas bars.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If you’re vacationing and wanting to use the Metro to get around (highly recommended) Purchase a Barcelona Card - includes all bus, metro, fennicular (to Monjuic)as well as free admission or discounts to museums and attractions. You can get it for as many days as your stay.

Would stay in this hotel again.

The hotel was in a great central location. We were able to walk to all the sights we wanted to see, some a short walk, a couple a long walk. I felt very safe in all the areas. The room was very spacious in comparison to other European hotels where I have stayed. It was also very clean. The bathroom was very nice. The staff at the hotel were all very helpful. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

Traveler's tip on dining

We mostly ate tapas with which I loved. It just seemed to be the way to do dining. And, there are inumerable places to eat tapas and we enjoyed them all. Barcelona is a beautiful city and while walking to the sights we wanted to see and walking back to the hotel there were so many beautiful buildings to view and many, many tapa places to stop at and sample the food. All the food we had was very, very tasty.

Beautiful little hotel. Perfect location.

We had a lovely, quiet room with a balcony looking out on Barcelona. Centrally located so we could walk to many of the sites of the city. Also easy to access to the "on-off" siteseeing bus for transportation around Barcelona. The Bellman gave us several delicious restaurant recommendations that are favorites of the locals. Can’t wait to return.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Be sure to make time to visit the Gaudi masterpeice, The Sagrada Familia. Absolutely fascinating!

Great hotel, lousy lobby

The only problem of this hotel was not a confortable sitting area/lobby. The hotel is divided into 2 buildings and one has more conform than the other. The bar lounge could be more attractive.

Over Priced

Expected a LOT more from a hotel in this price range. When we got there they only had one bed....when we had reserved two. Had to argue with them for quite some time. The old side of the hotel smelled funky. They finally put us in a room in the new side. It was ok. Good location but that’s about the nicest thing I can say.

Great Location!

We were pleased with our stay at the Condes de Barcelona. Being right on the Paseo de Gracia was great - only a block from Le Pedrada. We were around the corner from many of the major sights and convenient to public transportation. The staff was not especially friendly, but not unfriendly either. The rooms were quite comfortable and modern, though our queen bed was two twin beds pushed together and made up separately, which was disappointing. My husband was more than pleased that internet was available in the room and he was able to check his stocks and sports scores back home. It was a pleasant stay and we would recommend it for others for a few days stay. It is said there is a pool on the roof, but it is more like a bathtub - just a warning for anyone who is seeking that amenity in a hotel. The hotel itself is a renovated palace and the architectural details were beautiful.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Getting the two day pass for the subway was super economical for us and easily got us to everywhere we needed to go for 8 Euros each. Definitely a very cost efficient way to get around town, and the system is clean and simple to navigate.

Loved every minute of my stay there.

The location of the hotel couldn’t be better. It is convenient to many attractions and good restaurants, yet not noisy or touristy. Really enjoyed the roof top setting, where there is a bar that’s open until 1 am for cocktails. It is so pretty and the view is lovely. The room was lovely with all the finer amenities, including terry cloth robes and Bulgari toiletries. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There’s a bus service in Barcelona that covers the north and south routes of the City and gives the traveler a comprehensive overview of the City. For one price, you can get on and off at any stop you chose. They have recording devices in English which highlight each attraction as you approach it. We did the north route in the morning and the south route in the afternoon, getting off several times. Then the next day we went back on our own to spend more time at certain attractions.

Great Hotel in a great location!

This hotel was very clean, had what we thought were larger rooms than you usually get in Europe, and had a staff that was very helpful, polite, and spoke good English. Their location is near a Metro stop which easily took us to Ramblas and back when we had had enough noise and excitement. We will stay in this hotel again.

Traveler's tip on dining

Although Ramblas has excellent Dining and Nightlife, the area near the hotel had excellent places to dine also.

Ultra Modern Hotel

This hotel is in a great location-walking distance to many major sites, restaurants, shopping and to the hop on and off tourist bus stop. We stayed in the new building where the rooms were were ultra modern and almost office like, and a even a bit sterile looking. It definitely did not feel like a warm and comfy bedroom. However, the bed was extremely comfortable. Every light and window shade was operated from a switch panel by remote control. And it got to be very complicated to turn a light on and off, or to open the window shades. You need a pilot license to operate the remote control system, and by the time you mastered it, it is time to check out. So be patient or tech savvy! Our room came with a large balcony replete with patio furniture, 2 lounge chairs and a dinette table set. I am not sure if this is standard or if the patio was larger because we were in room on the roof level. The bathroom shower leaked every time we took a shower and it was horrible to get out to a large pool of water and have to use all the towels to soak up the water. There seems to be a problem with the shower doors and water leaks.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

There is a mini supermarket just around the corner on the side street and a Starbucks 2 blocks away. If you are afraid of modern technology or turned off by the art decor, modern and cold decor, you should call and ask for a room in the older building before you arrive, because when you arrive your room is already assigned.

Great location

The location of the hotel is wonderful, you can walk to almost all places of interest. Front desk was very helpful every time we needed advise or help, they always found information about different events for us. We stayed for 9 nights and were very happy that we choose this hotel. Our room was on the last floor with windows facing inner yard, very quiet. Everything was very good until last night of our stay. We had to get up at 6 am to catch our flight, so we packed and were ready for bed when some loud noise and than jumps started on the roof terrace. This terrible very loud noise was until 2 am (as permitted by the hotel rules). It was absolutely impossible to get to sleep. If you are planning to stay at this hotel ask for the room on the 3rd or 4th floor. On the ground floor of the hotel are also bar and restaurant, music is so loud you cannot hear yourself speaking.

Traveler's tip on dining

If you like salads go for lunch to FresCo - it is a chain of buffet cafe, so find on a Web the one convenient for you. For 8.30 euro (or 10 after 6) you can eat everything that they have as much as you can. The same type but more meat dishes is La Vaca Paca, Passeig de Gracia, 21. They also have different salads and pizza, but also very good lam, beef and pork. The price is almost the same. Both places have coffee, ice cream and fruits for the same price that you pay upfront.
