Good value in Charleston

The beds were less than comfortable , but the location was most convenient, the plac e clean, the staff friiendly and helpful. The little restaurant downstairs serves very good breakfasts.

Good location, basic chain motel, a little overpriced

If it weren’t in a convenient location for Charleston’s historic district, this would just be another basic chain motel. The location, however, is good and the parking is free, so they can charge about $25 a night more than you’d expect for a similar room out by the interstate. When we were there, they were resurfacing the parking lot, which meant there was noise and smell. Unlike other Days Inns I’ve stayed in, they only have coffee in the morning--no donuts or cereal.

Great price and location

My ONLY complaint revolves around minor maintenance. Some loose fixtures here or a loose towel bar there. Not trying to be overly picky, it’s just a pet peeve. Otherwise, it was FANTASTIC. My wife and I really enjoyed it’s location within the historic district, and the room was very welcoming and comfortable. Will definitely use this one when we return!

Clean & comfortable

The hotel was VERY convenient for anyone wanting to explore Charleston on foot. We didn’t have to drive at all once we reached the hotel. It was quiet and clean with a friendly staff.

Unhelpful staff

The best thing about this hotel is the location which is perfect to explore Charleston - and we had a lovely time doing that. The hotel was basic but fine which is what we expected for the price. The biggest problem I had was with the lack of assistance provided by the staff. We were travelling with 2 children under two and requested a crib when we booked. I telephoned the hotel to find out if one would be available and was told that despite the request they could confirm that a crib was currently available for our stay but that if someone else checked in before us on the day they wouldn’t keep it for us! I offered to pay in advance to secure it and to pay an additional security deposit for them to take in the event of us not arriving but was told that they wouldn’t do any of that and I should bring one ’just in case’. After asking to speak to a manager I was told we would have one in our room on arrival but, being less than confident in that at this stage, decided to take our own. I was very glad that we did as upon arrival at around 7.30pm not only were we put upstairs without an elevator but there was no crib in our room.

Not impressed

Very old hotel...accomodations were in a convenient location is the best I can say. Parking is a nightmare. We had to park and then walk everywhere so as not to lose our space. All doors open to outside and there is no elevator. Rooms very small and musty. I would stay for another $20 or $30 down the street at a better hotel.

Only good thing is it was cheaper than the rest.

Great location and parking!!

My mom and I stayed here for just a quick overnight trip and it was GREAT! It is walking distance to the market and King street shopping. We were able to leave our car parked in the hotel lot until 3:00 the next day so we were able to conveniently shop and go to lunch. Very fun and would definitely stay again! Great price for downtown Charleston.

Go to Henry’s for a drink or late night. Great atmosphere and live music at night.

Perfect Location

We could not have asked for a better location, within walking distance of all the shopping, historical walks, and resteraunts.

If you are going simply for fun, pack some good walking shoes, get your area map from one of the many local merchants and you can walk the whole district finding something to please every family member.

Affordable in the overpriced historic district

Better than most Days Inn. Within walking distance of all attractions in the district. They are not liberal with parking, you have to get your car out of there by 3:00 pm the day you check out (at 11:00)

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Leave your car at the hotel, and walk, take a bike taxi or a regular taxi. Parking is very tight in the area.

have a ball

nothing fancy nothing trashy...plain jane feel me-folks who want to experience downtown without breaking the bank or staying in a dump should go here. broken drawer on dresser was about the only grimy deal...everything else was just what it claimed to be...wha wants to spend all their time or money in the room anyway. we’ll be staying there again if ever we return

Traveler's tip on dining

no hymans...i mean the price is right but there is so much more stuff off the beaten path...carolines, hanks, cypress, fuel, penninsula...granted all alittle on the upitty side but if you got the cash thats where you should be

center of the historic district

In the middle of Meeting street and within walking distance to most major Charleston attractions. parking is free. 2 blocks from hymans and sticky fingers restraunts. pool in the back was nice for the kids. free internet The only issues were that the rooms were too small and construction on the building across the street was loud starting at 8:00 in the morning.

You’ve Got to Give to Get

Great location right in the heart of the historic district. You can park your car and never need it again! When we went to the first room, one of the lamps was unplugged and when I went to plug it back in, it exploded. Seems that the plug was pulled out over and over again for the housekeeper to use the vacuum, and the wire had been exposed. Response to the problem took time, and the hotel clerk did not show any concern for the problem. We got another room where, again, the cord was not plugged in. The room, however, was clean, the bed very comfortable...phones were out when we arrived but problem was fixed within a few hours. Worth taking a chance, for the convenience and the price.

Great location, clean room, and excellent price outshines lousy front desk personnel.

We (2 families/2 rooms)stayed at the Days Inn for two nights in July. The rooms were clean, location close to most attractions, and parking was not a problem. However, the front desk personnel ranged from down right nasty to very helpful, depending upon who you spoke to. For example, my son was told there was no pool on the grounds, yet, I found out a day later that there indeed was a pool. Also, construction is occurring in front of the hotel which makes driving difficult at times, but you can’t beat the rates and the parking which can be dificult in Charleston.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Forget about the "adult only" history walking tour at night. It really stinks. Also, a lot of clubs and drinking at night but not much to do with the kids. Aquarium and boat tours are great.

We were very pleased with this hotel. The location was wonderful! You can walk to everything, It’s much better then we expected for the price. And to be right in the middle of the Historic District too! I’m already planning our trip for next year! Our room was very clean, and we had very friendly service.

Not very impressed

Excellent location in the historic district. A good basic motel, clean and comfortable. But a number of maintenance issues. The door out onto the car park didn’t close properly unless given a very firm pull, something the cleaning staff didn’t realize. Also the room safe was completely disfunctional with a big hole where the lock was supposed to be.

Good location

The hotel was a little run down and old but you get what you pay for. The location could not be beat and the free parking was excellent. I also loved having a refrigerator and microwave in the room. I only saw one bug and that was outside of the room.

Traveler's tip on dining

Go to Hominy Grill for a super good breakfast. And the grits at Hank’s Seafood restaurant were much better than the fish.

very satified with our stay.

We had a very nice stay at the hotel but parking is a problem. If you get a parking place in their lot you had better stay in it for if you leave it will not be there when you get back. It is close to everything and overall it was a very nice and comfortable stay.

Location so great, the downfalls can be overlooked.

Hotel is in a fantastic spot, right down town in Charleston. You can basically walk from here to any attraction on the peninsula. The downfalls (the room a bit ragged looking and parking) can be easily over looked. I would stay there again.
