Wonderful value in Rome

Our Oct. 2009 experience at the Victoria Hotel was outstanding at a good price...had a room for two that was large with plenty of storage for our clothes and suitcases..the bathroom was modern with a tub/shower and nice towels. The included breakfast was fabulous with quite a variety of choices beyond the typical....a pleasant surprise. The internet was available at no charge and always worked. The location was great for access to the metro and central to all sites -we had a fabulous week in Rome.

Hotel Victoria

Pro Location was excellent, easy walking distance to most of the tourist attractions in Rome. Breakfast was quite nice (basic buffet) and free english newspapers available. The rooftop bar was beautiful, a great place to unwind after a day of walking around. Nice local restaurants were around including Al vero Girarrosto Toscano just about 30 meters away. Con Small nitpick was that the shower heads were unable to clip to the upper mount meaning that you could not just stand under the shower. Beds were adequate, but a bit firm. AC was mediocre. Overall .. a good tourist hotel, nice location, reasonable comfort.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Don’t eat at any place on Via Venetto .. you will save money by eating at any of the restaurance off of it.

Elegant Hotel

A very nice hotel in a great location. Professional friendly staff, nice common rooms and great breakfast. My family and I stayed in a "Family Room" with a king bed and 2 single convertables for the the kids, good AC, quiet room and large bathroom. Very nice for Rome. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel.

Very comfortable and peaceful

Tucked away on a quiet street but a short walk to Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese (right across the street), great food and shopping. A taxi ride away from the Colosseum and Vatican, but there’s a taxi stand right on the corner. (Very convenient.) Although not a brand new building, the hotel common areas and rooms were well-maintained and clean. The staff was wonderful; cheerful, helpful and very warm and kind to our 8 yr old daughter. We’ll stay there again!

There’s a wonderful zoo in the north-east corner of the Villa Borghese. If you’ve been to NY Central Park, this one is bigger and much nicer in comparison. It was a great way to spend our last afternoon in Rome with our 8 yr old.

Good option

The hotel is very well located. Has family rooms, which for us was important because we travel with our two kids. The staff is very friendly.

The location is great. The room was bigger than expected. The staff was friendly and spoke English. Everything was clean. Overall, we had a very positive experience, and I feel good recommending this hotel to others.

A good hotel in good location.

Hotel was clean and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The beds (two twin beds pushed together) were a bit too hard. Breakfast was good and plenty. The best feature of the hotel is its location. You can walk to everything. Lots of great restaurants close by and some good shopping as well. Overall I recommend this hotel. We happened to be there during the European Soccer Championship and it was a festive environment.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Take a walk at Villa Borghese and visit the Meuse. Make sure you make advanced reservations. Take the hop-on-hop-off bus tour to see much of Rome.

Can’t wait to go back

Our stay felt more like we were staying with family instead of a hotel! So warm, helpful and friendly. Also the breakfast was great for vegetarians like my husband and for folks that like meat and eggs like me. Next time we come to Rome, we know where we are staying!

A couple blocks from the hotel are 2 great grocery stores....perfect for water and fruit for the day while sightseeing!

Have been going to this hotel for 10 years and find it a pleasant experience every time.Location is great, as is the breakfast.The staff are great and ready to help with your needs.What more could ask for?

Would definitely go back

The hotel was centrally located, however, there were no views from the rooms. Upon our arrival, we were greated with a plate of fruit with a personal "welcome" from the management. The rooms were spacious and spotless. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast buffet was the best that we had in Italy. The only glitch was that the internet service was down the whole 5 days that we stayed at the hotel. I would definitely go back.

Great little hotel in a great location!

One block off the Via Veneto and at the entrance to Borghese, the location is perfect. The staff were all very helpful. The room, while small, was comfortable for the one night we were there, but if we’d been there for several days or in Rome on business, the lack of a desk would have been problematic. We’d definitely stay there again, however, because of the location and the courteous and helpful staff.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Be sure to ask whether the room has a desk. Don’t know about connectivity in the guest room; we connected down in the lobby, so be sure to ask about that as well.

The location could not have been better and the service was the best of our trip. Highly recommended.

Location excellent for shoping. My room was small. I ask for a double bed, and i get to twin beds.

Pretty good

The hotel service desk was wonderful and recommended a fabulous dinner location the night we arrived. The location of the hotel is also quite good and close to the metro - spagna. For the price of the room I did expect a better bed though. The beds were very firm which made for an uncomfortable stay. We had no problems with our air which I read others did and overall a pleasant stay.

Great Location

The hotel and its staff were terrific and I would definitely recommend this hotel. The location near Villa Borghese was wonderful and the roof top restuarant is a nice plus. My wife and I walked to the Vatican (about 4 miles) and took a subway back for 1 Euro. Our only negative had to do with the taxi service to the airport. There is a taxi area one small block from the hotel and when we asked one of the drivers for an approximate cost to airport, we were told 40 Euros. When I asked the hotel for a cost, they told us 40-45 Euros. We let the hotel order us a taxi and the driver charged us 60 Euros when we arrived at the airport. We didn’t have that many Euros left so he had to settle for what we had but I would suggest you go to the taxi area and get your own taxi.

Beautiful lobby, very helpful staff, less money and superior in every way to another Rome hotel we stayed in this trip.

Great Value and Location

I stayed at the Victoria for 2 nights after a cruise. The hotel is just around the corner from the Via Venetto and close to all the sights in central Rome. The staff is very helpful and the rooms are very comfortable..wonderful bathrooms especially.

Was perfect for us

The hotel was the best we had in Italy. Breakfast was great (so so good), the room (a triple) was huge, with a great view, the hotel staff were very helpful, and they had internet access available (for a price). We didn’t try the hotel rooftop deck, but it was charming.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The hotel was located very near the Borghese Gallery (10 min walk), near lots of bus stops, and very near a metro access (to the Spanish Steps). Nice quiet neighborhood, but still near loads of activities. On the street behind the hotel, we found a great little "deli" that served the best deserts (almond cookies, tartuffis, etc.) and cheap dinners (lemon chicken, rice salad, and some expensive prosecco). I think the deli is called "Lotti’s."

Our only hotel experience in Italy

Hilde & I were very satisfied with our stay at the Victoria. The staff was friendly and helpful. Neither of us had been to Rome before and we relied on their advice and helpful suggestions, particularly with regard to tours that were available. We enjoyed dining in the rooftop restaurant with its view over the city.The menu could perhaps provide a few more choices. The room was clean and comfortable.If we ever return to Rome, as our tossing of coins in the Trevi fountain is supposed to guarantee, The Victoria will be at the top of our list of places to stay!

Wonderful Family Hotel

The hotel and their staff were wonderful! My wife and I stayed at the hotel with our 6 and 11 year old kids for a week. The room was a good size for all of us and the breakfast was great! The hotel is in a great location - close to great shopping and the Villa Borghese park.
