Great hotel at great price

We thought the Hotel Aramis was a very good value. It was clean and comfortable in a quiet, semi-residential area. The desk staff were very helpful. The breakfast was good and plentiful. It is a short bus ride to the historic district. We would go there again if we ever get back to Prague.

It’s in the details

My husband and I just got back from Prague and enjoyed the Aramis very much but some of the details aren’t there yet. The room was nicely appointed, clean, very comfortable bed and nice shower/bath. The breakfast in the morning was very nice and kept us going all morning and into the afternoon. However, the floors are tiled and the sound carries throughout. Our room was right near the stairwell on the 2nd floor above the front desk. In the morning we could hear talking and general banging around as people checked out etc. Voices and noise echoed. As people stood in the lobby and smoked, we could small it in our room . Also, the bed wasn’t usually made, it was tidied and "fluffed." Not a big deal but not 4 star quality. This hotel is also not as close as it would seem from the city center, it’s about 4 kilometers but if you are relying on puiblic transport allow a half an hour or so to get there.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Watch out for "cover charges" on some restaurant menus of up to 20%. Coca Cola’s can also cost up to $5.00 if you don’t watch, always ask the price if it is not listed. Bring heavy soled shoes as the streets are cobbled and can be murder on your feet if you are not used to it. Wander and have fun. Check out some of the smaller, museums like the Chocolate museum or the Ghost museum.

Definitely not a 4 star (for US Standards)

This is a good, reasonably priced hotel to stay at especially if you book through a discount website. But do not go for the star rating mentioned at the websites, its listed as a 4 star hotel but its more like a 3 star infrastructure and facilities. They say there is wireless internet but it works only in the lobby, I tried a lot to get a signal in the room but was unsuccessful. They also charge you for parking, 350 Krooner per day, based on exchange rate that could be almost $20 per day.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There is a bus from very near the hotel that goes to city center and is a good medium to reach the historic city center, but if you want to come back late in the evening, a cab ride could end up costing almost $40 !
