Won’t go back-far better places elsewhere!

Too busy, overbooked hotel, staff harried and overworked, had a convention (waited 5 min for elevator each time) and a wedding at the pool (when we stayed only one night) so the entire courtyard area closed from 5-11 pm. Our room had a delay in check-in, so we missed any outside time. Room was clean, nice bed, rather shabby tub with broken drain, far in outskirts of quarter-not very close to anything, will look elsewhere next. Live and learn!

Away from the Action

The Hotel & personel were both very nice & caring, so if you don’t mind being a bit out of the way then this hotel will be good for you. When you look at the map it shows that you are only 2 blocks from Bourbon, but the 2 blocks a privite homes, so the street is very empty, which I didn’t like after dark. Also to help with location: Cafe DeMonde is 7 blocks away Acme is 9 blocks away Jackson Square is 6 blocks away

nice place, but needs attention to details

While the hotel is nice and the courtyard is very pretty, the staff was lackluster. Things promised at the desk did not arrive, maid service was slow and sub-par a couple of days (no new plastic glasses or toiletries; room cleaned hours after we left one morning, with no Do Not Disturb sign on the door), bartender was surly when I was sent there for coffee after the urns in the lobby were empty. Post-Katrina, especially, I would have expected a lot more, given that tourists are their bread and butter. Friendliness costs nothing and nets much. Outside the hotel, hospitality/service workers were fabulous. We spent more for a balcony overlooking the pool, but the doors didn’t meet properly, so opening and closing them was a pain. Plus, we shared the balcony with an adjoining room, which was not what we expected. Luckily, the room was empty except for one day. We were barred from the courtyard/pool late Saturday afternoon and evening because of a wedding and not advised in advance. The capper was when I found a fly frozen in an ice cube in a Bloody Mary from the bar that was garnished with a limp and soggy celery stalk the consistency of a piece of soft licorice. The cost of the drink was refunded, but nothing else. For the money charged at this hotel, I’d look elsewhere.
