More than ok
The facilities are modern and very nice. The location is very good. The service is fine, but not as accommodating as other hotels we stayed at on our trip. For example, we wanted to find a laverie so as to do laundry during our stay and just couldn’t seem to get the desk people to help us with that. They insisted that we use their own laundry service, i.e., at about $8 per shirt.

A great place for jumping off into the Champagne country
The main problem we had with Reims this summer was not due to the hotel, but rather due to the extensive in-town road repairs. From what we could tell, Reims is installing a tram or subway system and upgrading their infrastructure. This is a good thing. In any event, the Hotel de la Paix was centrally located, close to the cathedral and great restaurants. It was clean, air-conditioned, and very modern in its presentation. An excellent value at a remarkable price.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The highlight of our trip to Reims was the tour we took of the Moet & Chandon champagne facilities about 30 minutes south, at Epernay. We also were much moved by the US war memorial and cemetery at nearby Cote 204 (Chateau-Thierry) and Belleau Wood.

4 Star Hotel at a 3 Star price
This hotel was way better than I was expecting. The rooms are very large and well appointed. Thankfully, the rooms were air-conditioned as it was hot while we were there. The staff was very helpful and arranged a champagne cave tour for us, and gave us tips and suggestions on what to see. The location is right on a "restaurant row" with a tremendous variety of restaurants available. This is a 3 star hotel that could easily be a 4 star. Clean modern feel to the rooms, with western style bathrooms and showers. The room size was very large by European standards
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
There is a Monoprix store directly across the street on the bottom floor. Here they have a full grocery store with beer, wine and assorted fruits and vegetables. Buy some fresh cheese and meats with freshly baked baguettes for a delicious picnic lunch or even a dinner.
