Nice hotel but rough part of the quarter
The hotel was nice and had a nice feel to it. It is a very nice property with comfortable rooms and a nice courtyard. It was a good deal as well. My only complaint about the place was that it was close to a somewhat rough area. The hotel itself was very secure but it is near Louis Armstrong Park and old St. Louis cemetary which is known for being kind of rough at night.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
Its only a couple of blocks from Bourbon Street but I wouldnt walk back to the hotel at night unless youre with a group of people. Some of the streets in that part of the Quarter are not well lit and I saw a fair number of people just hanging out late at night and I got the feeling it wasnt the safest place in the world on the street. The actual hotel is fine though.

Perfect College Student Hotel during Mardi Gras
Was at this hotel the weekend before Mardi Gras, The good:walking distance from bourbon street, Jackson Square, Canal etc, and felt safe walking back to the hotel late at night had inexpensive, safe parking for hotel guest (we paid 30 for the night where as the cheapest we saw anywhere else for was no lower than 50 bucks plus a night) gorgeous pool and fountains helpful staff good price comfy decent sized beds and fairly spacious rooms the bad: Overall nothing was THAT bad but our shower only had hot water, there was no cold water, toilet took awhile to refill after flushed one bed didnt have a head board and was slightly caved in Overall, the hotels no 4-5 star westin, but for a group of college students to crash after a night of partying it was ideal and much cheaper than anything else in the area during the time we went, dont expect anything spectacular, but is a modest hotel that worked for us
Traveler's tip on nightlife
If you are planning to go to new orleans around mardi gras and want to go out on bourbon st, it is totally worth it to rent a balcony for a few hours, by 10pm each night we were there, the street is packed, extremely hard to walk down. Also note that most places dont have bathrooms or will not let you use them unless you buy something so make sure to note where port-a-johns are placed, because the police arent to kind to people urinating in public
