Not a fan of Providence, but Best Hotel in the area

If you are going to Providence then I recommend you stay here. It was far from the best hotel I have stayed in, but it was clean and accomdating.

They could have seen it coming

It was graduation for multiple universities in Providence that weekend. Every hotel in the city was booked months in advance. But the Westin seemed totally unprepared. There were ridiculous waits for check-in, restaurants, room service. Wait for valet to retrieve cars on Sunday morning was over 30 minutes. Trying to get breakfast, people had to bus their own tables. Our room (next to the elevator) had a toilet that wouldn’t stop running, a completely dysfunctional thermostat (kept resetting itself to 80 degrees), and (admittedly least important), a coffee pot that wouldn’t make coffee. There were no cribs available (although we had requested one in advance.) I’ve been to this hotel on multiple previous occasions, so I know this is not typical. But someone in Westin Central needs to get their wrist slapped for poor planning.

Wonderfully Comfortable

The room had every pampered stay gizmo you could imagine. It was a welcome hideout on a night where temperatures were in the single digits.

Manager was unconcerned

First of all, there was a long line for check in. Second, there was a cheerleading competition so the pool was very crowded, the whirlpool was dirty, and we got one king sized bed for four people. They gave us a cot that was uncomfortable for two of us to use. The heater rattled also and was set too high and could not be lowered. The next day we could not use the pool because it had too much chlorine in it because of the crowd using it the day before. The management did not seem to care that our stay was awful. Overall, our stay was dissapointing because the other time we stayed it was so relaxing.

Go to Nancy’s Fancies bakery on Atwell Avenue. The cupcakes are delicious.

Comfortable Stay

Swank Lobby. Room was way back in a convoluted hallway. No shampoo or other things in restroom. Pleasant staff. Good breakfast buffet. So- so restaurant service

BUSY but accomodating!!!

We checked in around 7 pm and our rooms weren’t ready, the lobby area was packed but they were very accomodating and gave us an $80 comp to the restaurant/bar upstairs. They said they would come get us when our room was ready but really we had to go back down to find out. Other than that gaffe in the beginning, everything else was great!

Traveler's tip for business travelers

There is a cigar bar (Cigar Masters) attached to the hotel with it’s own entrance outside. Great place to sit back, have a nice cigar and watch the game. Very friendly workers there too. Also, McFadden’s downtown is a great bar to watch the game and meet locals.

Wow, exceptional!

We booked this hotel during a special price deal through Expedia. Luxury hotel for a great price. The location is in the heart of Providence so you can walk to restaurants, shops, cultural sites. We took a cab to the restaurant but walked back once I saw where we were. Skyway to the Providence Place Mall from the Westin itself. Excellent service began with the valet and continued throughout our stay.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Look for a special price deal through Expedia. Even with the charge for parking overnight, it was still priced right.

Loved the Westin!

This was my 1st time staying at the Westin hotel & I really enjoyed my weekend there.Hotel staff were very helpful & informative. The rooms were nice & I especially liked the heavenly bed & the dual shower in the bathroom. In addition the pedestrian bridge to the mall was a bonus as well.Look forward to staying here again on future visits to Providence.

A Westin Not Really ike The Others...

Generally Westins are visually appealing and clean. This particular hotel was a mess and smelled like wet dog almost, don’t even look down for the stains, you won’t want to see them. As usual, the heavenly bed was great if you can get past the smells and damp stained carpet. The front desk staff was FANTASTIC...that much they do have going for them!! WAY TO GO STAFF!!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The hotel is located so close to everything.

not impressed first Westin not impressed with

As I enter the room there was a dirty hand towel on the floor.. probably fell off the maids cart. The rug was stained in many places. clean but stained. the bath tub had a yellow stain large spot in it. overall not impressed but I guess it was the cheaper hotel in the area I needed. would not go out of my way.. should have spent the extra $30 and stayed at the Marriott or Biltmore..

Heavenly Bed and Bath...Enough Said!

The hotel staff was very professional and attentive, everyone from the bell hop to the front desk personnel. The bed and bath are worth the price of admission alone. We enjoyed everything about the hotel and it’s surroundings. You will be hard pressed to get better service, location, and amenities for the price. Loved it!

Traveler's tip on dining

Federal Hill is only a ten minute walk away with fantastic dining. We ate at Mediterreano Caffe and absolutely loved it. Try out the hotel and the eatery for a wonderful time. There is plenty of coffee shops and restaurants near the hotel within walking distance, and it has a walk way directly into the Providence Place Mall! Enjoy.

Beautiful hotel, well situated in the center of town

The rooms are nicely appointed. No shower cap or other personal ammenities beyond shampoo and lotion. Surprising for a hotel of this caliber & with all the limitations for carry-on luggage. Staff was helpful, in-room dining very good.

Great hotel but street noise was terrible

This is a beautiful, well-appointed hotel, but we encountered terrible street noise that troubled us each of the two nights we stayed there. We were on the 9th floor and could not believe how noisy it was. I guess it was because we faced Kennedy Plaza and the street noise resonated between the Westin and another tall building opposite it. We tried to use our room’s A/C unit to drown out the noise, but there was no way to keep it running constantly so we, including our toddler, just had sleepless nights. At least the beds were extremely comfortable. Also, only the lowest of the two double shower heads worked, meaning that we, both pretty tall adults, had to bend over to get to the water while showering.

If you plan to stay, request a room that does not face Kennedy Plaza!!!!

Room is clean and big enough.

Not a historical hotel, but a good city hotel. Clean and spacious room. Next to a shopping mall.

Not Usual Westin Standards

Our room was nicely decorated and clean. However, one of the closet doors was hanging off of its hinges and the bed was not the normal "heavenly bed" and felt just like a regular hotel bed. I’d stay there again, but wouldn’t be overly excited about it.

Up to the standards of the Westin - excellent

This hotel is relatively new - and well appointed. Nice staff, clean and well cared for rooms with all the necessary amenities. Westins are always nice, this one is particularly so.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Connected to the Providence mall - with excellent shopping and dining without going outside.
