Always top service

Very nice hotel; rooms are very nice, although the rooms are small & a sign of the hotel’s age; public spaces

Good hotel, pity about the staff

Good hotel, but it seems that the staff’s only interest is to separate you from your money. Concierge cannot be motivated to care except to offer you 10x overpriced hotel limo service which offers no advantage over a taxi. Would not recommend this hotel except for the location.

nice hotel

The best feature of the room was the control panel for lights, tv, temperature, etc., reachable from the beds -- there was also a small plasma tv in the bathroom which was cool. Swimming pool was peaceful. Concierge was great at translating. Drinks in the lobby bar were atrociously expensive and fairly poor.

Traveler's tip

You would think that Beihing taxi drivers would know where the Peninsula Hotel is, but they don’t -- and the way you say it in Chinese is nothing like English. The concierge will give you a handy card with the address in Chinese which was helpful -- as was simply asking to go to the street it’s on, Jinyu Hutong.

Impeachable service in excellent location

Staff from bell boys to room service are extremely professional and friendly. The Concierge service is excellent: ordering Peking Opera tickets, arranging tour guides and providing assistance. It is really quiet considering its location in the center of Beijing especially compared to the other hotels in China. A true five star hotel. The location is super within walking distance to the Forbidden City, Tianmen Square and centers of shopping mall and department stores.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Stop by Rui Fu Xiang on Wanfujing Dajie, a well-known store with hundreds-year-history selling the best Chinese silk in design and quality. It is one place I have to go whenever I pass Beijing and I always find something to take home. The store is a few blocks from the hotel.

Beijing’s best located and serviced hotel.

I have been to many of Beijing’s Hotels. But this one has been the best so far. The location is the best, and also very well maintained and service is superb.

Best hotel I’ve ever been so far...

One of the best hotel I’ve ever been so far. It was my first time staying in a Peninsula Hotel and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Service was great and there are people available there who speaks English. Our room was clean and comfortable. Only thing we were disappointed at were the lack of the complimentary dental hygiene pack. Once we requested though they gave us several boxes. The bathroom was clean also and well maintained. For shopping lovers, the hotel houses several retail stores like Chanel and Burberry. For people who are more budget concern there are malls nearby. The hotel doesn’t offer free shuttle to the airport but you can book it in the concierge.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you want to save a few bucks there are tour guides near the Forbidden City who offers set tours to go to several places in Beijing like the Great Wall, and Summer Palace.

Home away from home

Peninsula Beijing has everything going for it: elegance, services, cleanliness, location, and amenities. Great place to stay.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

It’s a block away from the pedestrian shopping mall and only a short mile from the Tien An Men Square and the Forbidden City. Subway station is nearby! Experience Beijing by using public transportation whenever possible.

The best or near the best in Beijing

The hotel maintains its facilities in a very high state, and better still, maintained very high standards of service in a country not noted for good service.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Don’t waste your time shopping at the Silk Market. Everything you can find there can be found in better quality at the same prices at the Pearl Market (ask concierge for directions).

I’ve expected too much

Because this hotel has been recommended by many people with 5 star ratings (some of the reviews even said it was one of the best quality hotel in the world!), I think I’ve expected too much. It was a nice hotel in a good location, but was not that exceptional. If you don’t expect too much, you would be happy.

One of the Best (The Penninsula Beijing)

As an International "Road warrior" who spends over 100 nights each year on the road in "too many" different locations, The Penninsula Beijing will be remembered as a top location while visiting. Revamped rooms are quiet with high tech extras (plasma TV with additional TV in bathroom, central light/environmental controls including a night light system). WIth the 2008 Olympics in the city, this hotel will surely impress many.

A Five Star Hotel and the best customer service experience anywhere.

An elegant, modern international hotel close to the Forbidden City and in the heart of Beijing. The best customer service experience anywhere in the world. The hotel staff, the front desk, the food service and restaurant were 5-Star. Highly recommend for any Americans going to Beijing for the first time. Booked on Expedia and was happy.
