I would definitely go back

The Old Mazatlan Inn is great. It’s clean, the rooms are comfortable and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Old Mazatlan is beautiful and there are many great restaurants. The Inn is walking distance to the Malecon and the Plaza. Also the views from the roof deck are amazing.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

I would recommend a trip to Stone Island (Isla de Piedras). don’t take a tour, just get a cab to the water taxi and for 20 pesos you get a round trip ticket to the beach. Also go to Tortulia (near the plaza) for cheap beers and friendly people. A more upscale bar near there is Lornas. The restaurant in the Plaza that is good is Pedro y Lola’s. Joe’s Oyster Bar in New Mazatlan is fun and has good food also right on the beach.
