The hotel was an older one with a ton of character. Very good restaurant. Was upgraded to a jr suite with microwave and fridge. Loved it

Nice Hotel...Not-so-Nice Roaches & Neighbors

The Vernon Manor Hotel was a very nice hotel...great food, convenient to the Children’s Hospital...friendly staff, too! But I had 2 really big problems with the VMH: roaches and burglary. I thought I was going to have to leave the hotel after 2 of the largest roaches I have ever seen made their presence known right before bedtime. The manager upgraded me to a suite (sans roaches) and I remained there for the duration of my trip, but the damage had already been done. The second thing was there was a family going to the Children’s Hospital who had their car burglarized the night I left - in a secure parking lot! So, ask for a higher floor than 2 and keep all your valuables with you would be my recommendations...which is sad because were it not for those 2 things, I would have stayed there again.

Get the suite if you can swing it...wonderful and no sign of bugs.

Decent hotel.

Nice location, older building with some history, needing some updating. Clean, comfortable, staff helpful. Food was average.

Impressive

Beautiful Hotel. Has a shuttle service to take you downtown and back. Our room was very comfortable and clean. I would highly recommend this Hotel.

Over all it was very nice. The only complaint was that the room was very humid.

Nice hotel

This was an older hotel but did not feel old. The room was HUGE.. it had 2 dbl beds and a couch and a kitchen even. With a dishwasher. I had no idea they were an efficiency. We were only there for the night so it didn’t come in handy. But the room was nice. Bathrooms a tad small, but liked the water pressure in the shower. Would definitley stay again.

A good place to stay for price

The hotel was conveniently close to Good Samaritan hospital where I had a residency interview so it was convenient. The room was comfortable and dinner service was good.

Avoid if you can.

Just returned from trip for daughter to have surgery at Childrens Hosp. Where to begin? Hotel is old and dreary. Very bad part of town. Room service missed 3 out of 7 days. Heat quit working on last evening. Staff was very friendly except for weekend female manager. Hotel was holding conferences all week, so no parking for actual guests. Heard gunshots on 2 nights, followed by police minutes later. 14 yr old girl raped 2 blocks away at 3am behind fast food resturant. I would not stay here again if it was free. Too many other choices to make a bad one again. This is the real deal from a well seasoned traveler. Your safety is at risk here.

Your safety is at risk here. You cannot safely walk to anything from here. The hotel staff will tell you that upon check in. Suggest you stay in Newport, Kentucky (15 minutes from Childrens, Shriners, Etc) and in the middle of lots to do, aquarium, resturants, safety.

Classic gem

Posh, spacious rooms at econo-box rates, convenient to UC, parking on-site. Forget chrome, steel and glitz--the Vernon has a classic gentility but state-of -the-art services. I’ll definitely stay here again.

Nice old hotel

The staff was very friendly, and the room was comfortable. Neighborhod was a little scary.

Good Experience

This hotel is reasonably priced, has adequately equipped rooms, and is in an ideal location, although a bad neighborhood. I would not recommend walking anywhere from the hotel - the hotel staff unanimously warn that the hotel is located in an unsavory part of town. however, they provide a courtesy shuttle and they are extremely prompt with this service. The view from the roof-top garden is amazing. All in all, this is a great hotel.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

This is a great hotel to stay at if you are going to Bogart’s for a concert. They offer free shuttle service to the concert venue until 10:30pm. It’s about a $5.00 cab ride back.

Nice hotel.

Overall, it was good. The front desk did not call a cab for us. They just gave us a number to a cab company. The cab did not get to the hotel for an hour (they said it would be 20 minutes). Other than that, I liked the hotel. It was old, but well kept. The price was fine.

Classy Old Hotel

I always stay at the Vernon Manor when in Cincinnati. Excellent central location, free parking, spacious 1920 style rooms and excellent service.

Great older hotel, hidden gem of Cincinnati

I’ve heard pans of this hotel, can’t understand why. Older hotel, nicely updated. Sheets were comfortable - not threadbare! Beds were firm and comfy. Easily accessible from I-71, convenient to downtown and suburbs, valet parking and secure parking lot available - I never used valet but they are courteous. Great dining room/restaurant. Locals drive in from blocks away for the buffet. Hall carpeting is drab, the elevators are not high speed, and there is no pool. So what? Quiet, comfortable, historical (Beatles stayed there during the 64 tour), and reasonable!

Don’t Stay Here New Year’s Eve

This hotel is a bit old but has "character". The rooms are spacious and fairly well maintained. However, the neighborhood was noisy and we had to report a domestic disturbance across the hall that kept us awake till 2AM. The staff was responsive and the hotel might be fine on another evening.
