La Quinta Inn Orlando/Winter Park

This was a bad experience!

First problem was finding the hotel. I had to stop and ask another hotel how to find this hotel. Then I got there and checked to find the non-smoking room smelling with cigarette smoke. Back down to the front desk and they sent me to the top of the hotel and to the furtherest room on the hall. I turned on the lights and nothing came on. I blocked the door open so I could see and looked for one lamp that worked. Most of the light bulbs were out in the room. Then the TV would not turn on. I worked on the tuner until I could get the TV to work. Finally, I got it on but after spending about 30 minutes or more fighting the tuner. Then there was ladies of the evening running up and down the hall later that night. I was so glad to get out of this dump!

inexpensive - for a reason

Room had that refrigerated mildew smell - window looked out to overgrown paving with broken hulks of airconditioning units left to rust - inches wide caulk in tub area - tile repairs with mismatched tile insert and generally dirty in common areas. top all off with sheriff’s office arresting someone blocking the driveway for several hours and police search helicopters overhead. Glad i had things to do outside of hotel most of the day.

Prime location

The LaQuinta experience was quite satisfactory. Despite only spending 3 nights, the staff did a great job of ensuring that my stay was hassle free. Location was great - with easy access to major business centers, restaurants and malls. Rooms were spacious and well furnished while free wireless internet ensured i was able to keep up with daily activities. Highly reccomended for business travellers or even a short family stay.

Poorly Maintained

The hotel was poorly run. The halls and rooms were not clean. The chairs in the rooms were torn and dirty. The food served in the restaurant was tasteless and substandard. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

Ugh...

The worst part about our stay at this hotel was the smell! The place smelled like stale cigarettes. Especially in the hallways, and it permeated our non-smoking room. Rooms were very poorly cleaned and housekeeping was knocking on our door at 9 am to clean. We wound up having flight cancellations and moved on to another hotel, even if it was a bit more expensive.

Historic Winter Park is fantastic for shopping, eating and the art museum. A nice day away from the usual Orlando attractions.

very dissatified

The carpet,bedding,& furniture was damp all week. I could not stay on the internet long enough to check my e-mail. It kept booting me off. The outside of the hotel had a terrible oder. I was very dissatified. I will not stay there again.

I would stay again

The hotel is an older building, however, our room was spotlessly clean and the service was as good as one could want. The elevator should have been swept, but I would stay again!!! Was extremely easy to find, with an easy access to the freeway!

Run as fast as you can

This is an embarrasment to the Laquinta chain. The rooms carpets were wet with humidity for air conditioners that did not function properly. The rooms and hallways were dirty.

Not what I expected

It’s faraway from all the theme parks. The room smell like mildew. Didn’t have enough cable channels. The comforter was dirty. The room is not thoroughly cleaned. Found old magazines underneath the matress. Everything looked old. There is old rust stains on the sink faucet. In the exercise room, there are only two exercise machines working. The treadmill and the bike didn’t work. The pool is dirty. The bed was comfortable though.

Don’t pick this place to stay. Your making a big mistake.

Not the best, but not even close to the worst

The entire down stairs has just been remodeled so it was very nice. The staff was very friendly. The rooms seemed a little outdated but were clean. There was a spider in our room but we killed it. There were not other bugs after that. I would say it is the equivilant of a Days Inn. The picture of the room online is not at all what it really looks like inside the room.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

It’s not bad if you’re on a budget. It’s very close to downtown. I figure you don’t spend most of your time in the room anyways.

I’m going to think real hard before I go back.

I have stayed here before but this time the conditions of the room as a hole were awful. We had no toilet articles, no towels,no tp and no AC. Tha AC was frozen solid and rattled all night with out cooling the room, sleeping was at best minimal. When I told the counter the answer was sorry it might be better next time.

North-West Orlando convenience

We have used the La Quinta chain elsewhere and found it good value for money. This example was different, as a large, five-story building, clearly catering to function/convention trade. It is conveniently located just off I-4. Its restaurant is operated as a Holiday House franchise, and in the morning functions just for hotel guests, offering a substantial "continental" breakfast included in the room price. Rooms are spacious, clean and well-equipped. Prices are reasonable in an area where rooms can be expensive.

Keep searching for a cleaner place...

I booked three nights here during Daytona 500 weekend that was a problem from the moment we arrived!.. Like an episode from Seinfeld, our reservation for a room with two double beds was ’taken’, but not ’held’! So, we settled into a room with a single king, but only after leaving the first room because it reaked of mold and mildew!.. The second night, we were offered a room that had two double beds, but after rejecting the first one due to (once again) the smell of mold and mildew, we received keys to another room that would not read our cards! We finally ended up in a room that seemed OK until we discovered several roaches in the pre-dawn hours!!! We were told that the roaches would be exterminated by the time we returned from the race late Sunday night for our final stay...They weren’t!!! So, we were brought key cards to our sixth and final room of this three night long nightmare... Hallaluja!, It was clean, bug-free, and had two double beds, which was all I ever was expecting when I booked this place! Kudos to the staff for never resisting or declining our requests for new rooms, but that’s about where the compliments begin and end. Maybe, I’m a fool for thinking that these conditions shouldn’t exist in a hotel with a ’chain name’ attached to it, but this was my first and will be my last experience with a La Quinta Inn here or anywhere else!!!

Okay if on a budget

You get what you pay for, so if you are traveling on a budget, this is a decent enough place to stay. The bed is comfortable and the rooms are fairly clean, not spotless. The building itself is worn and run-down, desperately needs re-modeling. The hallways are dark.It’s on a busy street but surrounded mostly by businesses; it’s not within walking distance of any stores. Tiny fitness center (just 3 machines). I did have a problem getting an iron in the room. I had to request it three times over an almost 24-hour period before it finally arrived. Normally, this might not be a big deal but I had a wedding to go to and I needed to get ready. The staff at the front desk was helpful and always polite. The complimentary breakfast was limited in variety and offered just the basics. But there was wireless connection in the room! It’s an okay place if you are on a budget.

The hotel had a bad smell, looks old and there was a roach in the room.

The staff was not very friendly or really tried to answer my inquires in a friendly manner.

A bit run down and spooky

I went there on business and was expecting a nice classy hotel. This hotel was old and run down. The elevators were like the ones in the movies of the old hotels. The hall ways looked spooky. Breakfast was shutdown 15 min early so I missed out. If you want a cheap stay and dont mind the old spooky hotel feel, then this is the place for you.

a little below average

the staff were very friendly and helpful. the room had a slight oder to it but not bad enough to leave or change rooms. i had a room on the second floor and the windows were screwed shut so you couldnt get any fresh air. the shower wall had a crack in it. this really is a pet friendly hotel i wasnt aware that we would have a pet stay at time of checkin but i let the front desk know when i was bringing in the dog and they had no problem just had to sign a waiver. maids came in daily and replaced towels,cleaned up and made beds but didnt change sheets.

right between daytona and disney. Its about 20 min to sea world and international dr and about 50 min to daytona beach. so if you plan on making the most of your vacation and going all around this is a good hotel to stay at. altough there is not much to do around the hotel. its right off I-4 and easy to get everywhere.

You get what you pay for

this wasn’t a particularly pricey hotel and we chose it, in part, so we could bring our dog. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and a number of other guests had dogs, too (it was during Christmas). We had an issue with the TV and they quickly dealt with it in a satisfactory manner. Though not right next to Orlando attractions it was close enough for us and also near to restaurants and shopping. My wife and daughter used the exercise room and were satisfied with it. Nothing fancy overall but reasonable and not bad issues.
