Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa

awesome hotel!

We enjoyed our week long visit to Monterey and loved this hotel. It was exquisite! From the piano playing in the lobby to beautiful rooms, this hotel created a warm and elegant atmosphere. The hotel staff was attentive to every need and we really enjoyed the valet parking. Expedia has a great rate b/c if we would have paid full price we would have paid $400 more per night! Great steal and totally worth it.

Great Location, literally ON the water at Monterey Bay!

This was a very nice hotel, great service, great comfortable bed. It is literally On Monterey Bay! The only bad thing was some street noise from a few drunken young men on the street below because we had a street-side room. I only wish we had stayed longer so I could have used the jacuzzi tubs outside.

If you can afford it, get the seaside room, as the last-night street noise was bothersome.

Classy Hotel with Great Spa

This hotel is a short 5 min walk to Cannery Row. If you get the ocean view rooms, you get a great view, but if you get a Cannery Row view room....wells, just make sure you don’t get those rooms for the views. One of the main reasons we will pay a bit more to stay at this hotel is because of the roof top spa. Wheter it’s during the day or at night, sitting in the jacuzzi facing the ocean is just an incredible feeling. It’s only for adults so you don’t have any little kids running around. The hotel rooms are nice, but the roof top spa is unbeatable.

Second Visit as nice as the first

All hotel staff from parking to front desk to maid service, courteous and friendly with genuine smiles! Concierge was extremely helpful. The rooms are very comfortable. The location is great! Can’t wait to stay there again!

Beautiful in every way

Great location and service

The Monterey Plaza Hotel is one of our very favorite hotels. It has a beautiful location right on the water. From many of the rooms you could even drop a fishing line from your room’s balcony into Monterey Bay! Just watch out for the sea gulls. They will fly into your room to take your room service breakfast if you aren’t careful. The restaurant is popular for dinner but I’d avoid it for breakfast if you are in a hurry. Easy walking distance to Cannery Row and the aquarium. Wonderful place for a romantic weekend.

The Monterey Plaza Hotel was a wonderful place to be on a beautiful August weekend. All of the staff were very friendly and made our weekend very enjoyable. Our room was amazing...overlooking the Monterey Bay. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful stay

My wife and I stayed here for a business/leisure trip. Its location is perfect. You’re walking distance to Cannery Row, the wharf, and the rec path. There are lots of restaurants in the area. Definitely, check out Bistro Moulin ...fantastic food!!! The staff was friendly. The courtesy car was very helpful and most often available even last minute. We even had some obnoxious neighbors who decided to have a little party in the room/balcony at 2a.m. Security was very responsive. We didn’t try the restaurants at the hotel but heard they were great. La Strada cafe is next door and perfect for morning coffee. We had a King suite with balcony which was nice except the tide coming in and the seagulls were a little loud in the early morning, but that’s my only compaint . . . no control over that one.

Great Staff

This was a beautiful hotel with such a great staff. Unfortuntaly for us our son got sick the first night we were there. The staff was great when we called down to find an open pharmacy at 1am by the time my husband got down stairs they had the car pulled up and a map printed for him. Our trip plans quickly changed and we ate room service and relaxed with our sick boy. Great place and the staff made a bad trip a very enjoyable one.

Don’t tell your kids about the spa because they can’t use them.

On the Bay

Spent a long weekend at the Plaza and was impressed with both the service and the amenities. Easy to walk everywhere; didn’t use the car once. The spa staff was particularly helpful.

Would go back

Great views of Monterey Bay from 4th floor ocean view room. Breakfast and lunch were great, dinner was o.k. but the Chart House next door was much better. Hotel makes a real effort to make you feel relaxed and comfortable.

The public transportation is good and takes you where you want to go. Stops right outside the hotel and is free.

Very well situated in Monterey

Beautiful, small pool, no ice on floors. Old world charm, very courteous valet. Would definately go back.

My favorite Monterey Hotel

We stayed in room #1005 which was the first room on the water. There are rocks below our balcony. I wanted to hear the water hit the rocks. Schooners is a good choice for lunch and you can sit outside on the patio. The views from the Duck Grill are awesome. We didn’t eat there. Staff is friendly/helpful. There was a wedding there the weekend we went. GREAT VIEWS. Close to the wharf & aquarium.

Monterey’s Nicest Hotel

Beautiful hotel, large rooms with gorgeous views. Restaurants and room service were top notch. Service at check in and check out was okay, but could be improved- line was long and only one person was working the desk. Valet service was easy and staff was very friendly. Hotel located very near downtown, but away from the tourist frenzy. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location; extremely accommodating and helpful staff; very nice restaurants and little cafe; loved the walking distance to the attraction on Cannery Row including Aquarium; aesthetically pleasing as well

We spent hours watching the sea otters

We stayed for 2 nights in a sea view room. We had an excellent stay - staff very friendly, good location, excellent food. But the icing on the cake was that we could see the sea otters from our room and with the use of te binoculars provided spent hours just looking at the view and watching the otters. Exteremely relaxing.

best on the bay

This was the first time we had stayed here, but it came highly recommended by many friends. What a beautiful hotel - close walk to Cannery Row, but set apart enough from the mass crowds of people to feel private. The staff were fabulous, the view was amazing, the rooms were immaculate, and don’t forget to try the spa!

Enjoyed our stay

The size of our family usually requires that we get two rooms. Most of the time the rooms we get are apart. At the Monterey Plaza they were together. I appreciate that. Well stocked mini bar that was handy after a long day. My wife loved the views the best and said it was worth the trip just to see and view the bay area. We are planning to go back for New Years. Two rooms again too.

We made this a last minute choice and was the highlight of the week ... nice hotel, great spa and fun restaurant with great view. We did not have water view but the room was nice and very quiet ... everything was good.

Great hotel, great location!

Nothing to complain about here. Rooms were nice, clean and hotel employees were friendly. Great location and even got an amazing discounted price through Expedia. Even if I would have payed the regular price, it would have been worth it for this good of a hotel on the California coast in summer.

Fabulous.

We received a reduced rate for "construction"...never saw it or heard it. The room was beautiful, clean and my kids thought we were staying in a palace. The breakfast service in the restaurant was fair to poor. Long wait for the food and high prices...can’t beat the location of this hotel.
